Jupiter’s Atmosphere Looks Like a Living Watercolor… But It’s Actually a Violent Superstorm Hellscape! This jaw-dropping close-up of Jupiter’s swirling clouds was captured by NASA’s Juno spacecraft during one of its daring low-altitude flybys. What appears as soft, dreamy brushstrokes of pastel colors is actually a chaotic masterpiece of extreme weather. These hypnotic patterns are created by colossal ammonia and water cloud systems racing through the planet’s North Equatorial Belt at breathtaking speeds. But beneath that beautiful surface lies pure chaos: hidden “stealth superstorms” and lightning strikes more than 100 times more powerful than anything ever seen on Earth. What looks gentle and artistic is, in reality, a nonstop frenzy of extreme fluid dynamics — where individual storms can stretch thousands of miles wide and rage violently for months or even years without weakening.Jupiter doesn’t just have weather… it is weather — a turbulent gas giant showing off its raw, untamed beauty.

Thirty six percent of the way but doing more than just cruising away! Since @esa 's Juice mission launched #onthisday in 2023, it has already hit incredible milestones!
🌍🌖 A pioneering Lunar–Earth flyby
☀️🟠 A Venus flyby
💫📸 An unprecedented 3I/ATLAS observation campaign
Happy launch-versary @ESA_JUICE ! 🚀🎉
Deep space antenna 4 is now live! 📡
@ESAs newest deep space antenna has entered operations at New Norcia, Australia, expanding Estrack’s capacity and powering future missions across the Solar System.

Join us for the next JUICE Europlanet webinar: “Observing 3I/ATLAS – JUICE’s Close Encounter with an Interstellar Visitor”, on 15 April at 16:00 CEST. The JUICE cameras delivered unique observations of this interstellar visitor, highlights of which will be presented during the webinar. Registration open here: https://t.co/WZs04uuq8l
🔭 Another opportunity to be part of the Juice mission! On 12 April 2026, Jupiter’s moon Kallichore will pass in front of a distant star, an event called a stellar occultation. This alignment will be visible in France and is crucial for refining Kallichore’s orbit, as it’s a potential target for a future Juice flyby in 2031. An observation campaign is being organised.
