@escardio When asked by the panel moderator about the upcoming #EUCVHPlan, Prof. Dendale is confident that the EU will take the lead in launching an overarching plan that addresses the entire spectrum, including obesity-related challenges. #WODEurope#WOD2025
“Obesity is driving an epidemic of heart failure, which is challenging and difficult to treat. We should prevent heart failure by effectively treating obesity,” reminds Prof. Dendale to fellow panellists and attendees.
To celebrate International Mother Language Day, we asked #ESCCongress attendees to share heartfelt expressions in their own languages – proving that across cultures, the heart is at the core of how we communicate.
But language isn't just about words – it shapes policies, access to care, and healthier futures. Just as language connects us, strong cardiovascular health policies must reflect inclusivity and protection for all. Governments must take action to ensure prevention, care, and education reach everyone.
This year’s theme, "Make languages count for sustainable development," reminds us that language drives inclusion, empowerment, and education – and health must be part of that equation.

Early patient engagement is key, as is ensuring valid and reliable measurements.
Professor Piotr Szymanski, academic chairperson of the #ESCardioCRT meeting in Amsterdam, notes that many important conclusions emerged from the discussions.
Patient involvement was a key topic, with diverse perspectives on their leading role in clinical trial evaluation, development, and even contributing to writing research articles and editorial materials.
Prof. Szymański: “@escardio is working on enhancing #AI literacy for healthcare professionals, refining clinical evidence assessments of AI-driven medical devices, and strengthening risk-benefit evaluation criteria to support regulatory decisions on AI.”
