I'm so blessed to have my name, Shraddha. It is a beautiful Sanskirt name meaning Devotion, given to me by my mother who knew me before I even knew myself. I wish to honor her memory and myself by requiring those who speak of me, to say my name correctly. https://t.co/KJEENQUks6
White friends, especially white women who did not have an undergraduate sorority experience:
In the coming months you’ll likely see a great deal of content about VP Harris’ sorority affiliation and the support from its members. We 🩷 it. Some info & tips for us: 🧵

I just wrote a @NPEaction letter: Tell Congress. Cut the Charter School Programs. Stop the Waste and Fraud. Fully fund public schools!
Write one here: https://t.co/w9SaALRQAQ
Writing a lesson about understanding the impact/effectiveness of school closures. My district is looking to potentially close 20 schools in a couple years. Trying to have students move past outrage and into understanding/positive action. Any resources from folx? TIA!
“Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union plan to turn up the heat on state lawmakers Wednesday, with more than 600 staff being given the day away from classrooms to go to Springfield to rally for more revenue.”

@AlaneAdamsBooks@LaneBaima Safe travels! I’m a math teacher teaching ethnic studies geometry in a majority bipoc STEM school! Would love help with getting my walls useable (cork board & whiteboard paint!)
Thanks for all you do! You’re amazing! https://t.co/I4RDyjBoMF
I’ve decided to start working on taking more higher level math classes. I have a complex relationship with college math (namely post calculus) and want to serve my curiosity that was stifled by the system as a disabled child. Wish me luck!
Imagine you go to the Dr. for a routine check up. A week later, you get a phone call from the doctors office. “Dr. Smith said he’d like to see you in the next day or two to discuss your physical exam.”
That “punched in the gut” feeling is immediate, and your thoughts are bouncing back & forth like a high speed tennis match.
The next day, you’re waiting on the doctor in his office. He comes in behind you, closes the door…and walks around behind his desk, pulling out his creaky chair. He gets right to the point. “You have a tumor. It’s cancerous.”
You feared hearing those words, but, didn’t really think you would. “I mean, this can’t be happening to me, right?!” you say to yourself.
As you sit there, in silence, with your hands starting to tremble and your lower eyelids beginning to reach their threshold on how many tears they can hold back before the dam breaks, your doctor pierces the quiet. “It is operable. If we could get it out, now, you might be fine. No guarantee…but…maybe.”
The tears come pouring, and you begin to sob. These are happy tears….tears of relief. For a moment you thought you were looking at a death sentence.
The doctor speaks again “But, I am so sorry to tell you…we won’t be able to operate. The tumor will have to stay”
“What?!” you say with the sharp punch of a Marine Corp drill instructor. “What the hell do you mean ‘it will have to stay?’”
“It’s against the law. If I did this operation, I’d likely go to prison. Even if it was successful, and we saved you from metastasis, you’d likely go to prison as well. I can’t do it. No other doctor will do it. I’m sorry.”
You collapse to the floor. Angry. Horrified. Confused. Stunned…….hopeless.
This unthinkable scenario is one that is now happening every day…somewhere.
This is what women across the country are now facing when it comes to having an abortion that would save their life. Situations like this are not rare. They are not.
What women are confronted with, now…is barbaric. This is supposed to be 2023. Why aren’t we acting like it’s 2023 in this critical area of need for women from coast to coast? Why? We know why. The answer is fucking unacceptable.
#Abortion
After six years, it's easy to take for granted the fact that I know my authentic self, that I don't have to spend my life in hiding, mired in fear and self-hatred, forced to perform the gender identity that society assigned to me. But it is, in fact, a miracle. 1/
Today, the #SupremeCourt hyper-partisan majority ruled to strike down #AffirmativeAction policies at Harvard and UNC, flouting nearly 50 years of legal precedent and our country’s long history and current reality of racial inequity. But our fight isn’t over.
Principals, when collaborating with families, let's make respect, active listening, & strength-based partnership our top priorities. Serving families is an honor & a privilege, & if we find ourselves lacking this mindset & belief, let's take a moment to check in with ourselves.
My heart goes out to #TamirRice’s family, especially to his mother, Samaria Rice, on today, Tamir’s birthday.
He should be celebrating 21 years.
It is a grave injustice that he’s not.
And I just can’t imagine how devastating that is for Ms. Rice…I’m sorry.
