[Joel Johnson @silkysoul]

@ESSENCE_Debates Insert Jeopardy theme here. How long will the #lunchtimeDebate hiatus last?

[Tanya Christian @TanyaAChristian]

I asked the White House to address Black Americans who feel Trump’s tax sit. reaffirms that the system is designed to bolster wealthy white Americans while Blacks grapple with inequity and income inequality

@ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul The problem is municipalities ALLOWING police depts to have rules that go against the municipalities civil laws. You're paying the lawsuits. Change the rules. Make them pay the lawsuits. Make them adhere to the laws. It's not for the police to say. It's for the taxpayers to say.

[GooglerInChief @R0zzyB0wden]

@DarthPettyThot @ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul That's what municipalities need to handle. Get mad at these payouts and force a change to how your police rules work. The insurance needs to be held by the cops & unions. The full liability of their actions belongs on them. Once they become uninsurable, they can't work.

[Denise Turney @DTWriters]

@ESSENCE_Debates Yes - they should

[ESSENCE Debates @ESSENCE_Debates]

That's our time. We'll circle back on #ProtectBlackWomen and the cost of racism in another chat. Be safe. #WearAMask. Be kind to yourself & others. Have a fab weekend. And come back at 3pmET today for the pitches https://t.co/MAvO47kjgw

@R0zzyB0wden @ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul #LunchtimeDebate Exactly! Not all of the citizenry agree with the decisions of the civil suits & will attack the awardees, & those that "vote" for those high payouts shrug their shoulders like it's not their money. Both sets of people need to seek to change the system.

[Renee Ferguson @ReeAnders]

@AVFTP1 @ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul @R0zzyB0wden Either that or insurance

[AViewFromTracysPoint @AVFTP1]

@ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul @R0zzyB0wden I have to disagree because cities and police departments have been paying settlements since forever. It's not their money, it's taxpayer money. They don't care. #LunchtimeDebate

[ESSENCE Debates @ESSENCE_Debates]

Thanks for the suggestion @avftp1. We can absolutely chat about voter calls on future #lunchtimedebate.

[GooglerInChief @R0zzyB0wden]

@GStylFire @ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul It's the same batch of people making these decisions. Civil jury pools are pulled from the voter rolls. Your municipality either agrees police should be able to show up in the middle of the night & murder a woman on a tip from a suspect or you don't. Make the laws & rules match.

[AViewFromTracysPoint @AVFTP1]

@ESSENCE_Debates Maybe for another day but can we debate the harassing voter text and calls? Should this be legal, If I enter or say STOP should it stop all calls and text and not just the current one?

[ReGina Crawford♌ @GStylFire]

@ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul @R0zzyB0wden (2 of 2) #LunchtimeDebate Instead of changing the system that promotes racism/sexism, they will go after those filing civil suits creating a further divide amongst the citizens of those cities/states.

[ReGina Crawford♌ @GStylFire]

@ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul @R0zzyB0wden #LunchtimeDebate Unfortunately I see it breeding more hate as the taxpayers in those cities/states start protesting about their tax dollars not being used 4 the upkeep of those cities/states b/c the funds are being used 2 cover lawsuits. (1 of 2)

[AViewFromTracysPoint @AVFTP1]

@ESSENCE_Debates No, because money does not equate to justice unless the money is used to get laws passed. Ex. where is the lobbying to outlaw no-knock warrants nationwide, to end qualified immunity, to change the thresholds for certain crimes, etc.

[AViewFromTracysPoint @AVFTP1]

@ESSENCE_Debates That's sort of like holding parents responsible if their kids of any age commit a hate crime or tell others to do so. There are almost 3 billion monthly FB users. It would be impossible to monitor each one. They have bots, keyword searches, and even humans scouring content 24/7.
