I can promise this: The Senate will not vote to leave NATO and abandon our allies just because Trump is upset they wouldn’t go along with his reckless war of choice.
Thank you to @SecRubio for sponsoring the bill in 2023 requiring a two thirds vote of the Senate to make sure clueless presidents couldn’t act on a whim.
@andrewjb_ Where are you sourcing cost of EIS? It only raised ~£1.5bn last year. Certainly didn’t pay out £1bn in tax relief. But EIS businesses contribute approx £960m in combined taxes each year
@dc_lawrence@andrewjb_@BritishProgress EIS does work - it sets healthy market conditions without the government choosing which shots to take. Good policy. Treasury nets ~£960m in combined taxes from EIS companies annually - much more than they pay out in tax relief. Our problem is growth capital, not seed (SEIS/EIS)
Sam Harris: "Joe [Rogan] is [...] honestly in over his head on so many topics of great consequence"
"[Dave Smith] is a pure misinformation artist"
"Our society is as politically shattered as it is in part because of how Joe [Rogan] has interacted with information"
U.K. Energy Prices are now four times higher than our closest industrial competitor. This means Great Britain can no longer compete or manufacture anything.
@matt_vanswol It was normalised when US persuaded Ukraine to give up 3rd largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in return for protection. It was also normalised when US formed NATO in order to lead security of West. It was by design, not accident.
@BasedMikeLee US hasn’t. A v quick bit of research shows you have given about €105bn. European countries about €115bn. And European countries buy their equipment through US.
@TaraBull808 Reminder that European countries have given more to Ukraine than US. And NATO rules mean European countries buy off US. Basically, US has a v good deal from NATO
@DavidSacks This analysis forgets the position that Russia too finds itself in. They cannot continue indefinitely either. In fact, their economy is in a desperate position. So, find a compromise. But don’t give away everything - being current battle lines - as your first move.
