In 1950, Italy had 17 children under the age of ten for every person over the age of 80.

The motto of the House of Savoy (former ruling dynasty of Italy) is FERT, which is an acronym, but no one knows what for. It's so awesome that they continued using it after its meaning was lost to history: "we live and die by the ancient motto of our House... whatever it may be."
