I suspect I will be in the minority, but I really, really, really like the new BMW M Concept Neue Klasse design. First new car I've been excited about in a long time. Putting on my flame-retardant comment suit now.
BMW is teasing a reveal tomorrow for the future of M cars. This could be our first look at the electric M3, or a concept based on it.
This is what we know so far:
- Four motors with advanced torque vectoring.
- Around 1000 HP
- M-specific motors and a performance focused battery pack designed for higher sustained output.
- Built on the Neue Klasse platform with the Heart of Joy control system and zonal architecture
- 800V architecture and ~100 kWh battery capacity
- Natural fiber composite materials replacing carbon fiber
- Simulated gear shifts and M-specific soundscapes inspired by BMW engines.
- Ability to disconnect the front axle and operate in full RWD mode.
Volkswagen sold 5.004 ID. Era 9X SUVs in May.
- 8th spot in VW's May Top 10.
- most-expensive car in VW's May Top 10.
- the brand's best-selling NEV.
- the nine other cars in VW's May Top 10 are ICEs.
- the next best-selling NEV is the ID.4 Crozz at 15.
The Volkswagen ID. Era 9X launched in April, so it landed in the Top 10 very quickly. The manufacturer is SAIC-VW. There's definitely a positive buzz in China around the car, with some saying that this is the car that will bring VW back into the large-SUV game.
When you look at the overall large-SUV segment, the ID. Era 9X ended up at the sixth place, just below the Aito M8 and just above the Onvo L90. 5th seems within range. Let's see what it does next month...
The ID. Era costs between $45.5 K and $53 K.
Kudos to the upcoming BMW iX3 LWB exclusively produced in China for China launching later this year achieving an average energy consumption of 12.6 kWh/100 km during the recently completed Qinghai Lake endurance challenge, traveling 805.8 km without a charge with 2% SoC left (equivalent to a range potential of 835-840 km).
60.9 kWh of energy (pretty insane) was recuperated during the trip which had climbs and descents across an altitude difference of almost 2,000 meters continuously.

It's fair to say that Lucid is now no longer the company we've known
Emad's passion for the products and customers was unmatched - I've had multiple midnight calls with him discussing challenges and wins (not that he would *ever* complain to me about a video I made 😜).
On one occasion I was lucky enough to join his recurring team breakfast gathering at HQ... it was refreshing to see how he led a talented group of engineers with openness, understanding, and high expectations.
It's sad to see him go at such a critical time for the brand
I'll need to catch up with Emad when it's time and as far as Lucid goes... We've got to feel out the vibe and figure out what and who the company is today. Sounds like we should be planning a trip to California!
A special milestone: three years after presenting the ID. 2all concept, we are now driving the new ID. Polo for the first time. From first idea to real experience. 🙏

A first look back at the lines that shaped the attitude.
The ID. Polo GTI takes the GTI idea into the electric future — compact, confident and full of character. From the first sketches, the red line, the strong front and the planted stance were already part of the story.
World Premiere: Friday, 15 May, 13:00.

BMW is making it easy to order the iX3 compared to the traditional dealership experience.
Configuration and ordering are done through the BMW website.
The dealership is there for questions and delivery, and they already offered a discount without me even having to ask!
US reservations for the BMW iX3 open tomorrow. Here’s what I’m expecting based on the i4/iX release plus what I’ve heard from dealers:
• Reservations go live May 6 at 8:00 AM EST
• $1,000 refundable deposit (applies to down payment)
• Possible promo financing (i4 had 0.99% vs ~5% market in 2022)
• Online configurator and pricing available at the same time
• Allocations follow reservation order per dealer
• Dealership must be selected at checkout
• Specs/options can be changed until cars enter production
• Order tracking in My BMW app
• Dealer handles delivery and final purchase
Xiaomi wants to conquer Europe!
These are Xiaomi’s new hires and they’re not sitting in China. They’re in Munich, about 50 of them, including ex-BMW people who worked on things like the M4 GT3 and pretty much the entire 3 to 7 Series lineup. Serious engineers, now building cars for a phone company that’s aiming for Europe in 2027.

Back to normally scheduled programming:
This is the most advanced, comfortable, and impressive VW ever built (and I’m factoring in Phaeton!)
To think Volkswagen sells us the Atlas instead of this in North America 😅😆
Yes, SAIC partnership, but a new co-developed platform with more VW tech than you’d expect 💯
