Indigenous Education at Prince George Secondary School (SD#57) on ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh, McLeod Lake Indian Band and Simpcw First Nations
Colton rocked the pitch medicine today. @EaglePgss@PGSS_Polars students helped harvest pitch to new heights. Finished product is pure gold. Melting, straining and cleaning the pitch, petroleum jelly added and melted over the fire. @pamelaspooner77@suzannedallman@Stephymarie33
Pinewood, @DArcy02127084, and @EaglePgss joined us today. We got a muskrat in the beaver trap, so Ian skinned it, roasted in spices over the fire, and most of us ate it. It was great. D’Arcy taught us tree coring, students aged the trees. @pamelaspooner77@SD57PG@dptstrojans
Cheyenne, a student at @PGSS_Polars is excited to share all that she knows about Hobiyee-a Nisga’a celebration of the new year. As a result of her window display, she has been invited into classrooms to teach about it & sts are asking lots of questions @SD57Indigenous@SD57PG
The District Student Advisory Council @SD57PG has been working hard on a film called “Raising the BAR”(bystanders against racism). Big thanks to the Board and Sr Team for the support and @ckpgnews for the great story @KapManhas @iDylanClifford@Darrin_Rigo https://t.co/WuMgWiQ4jm
Ice fishing with @DArcy02127084 and Louise Creyke today. So grateful for all of the land-based learning and outdoor excursions that our @PGSS_Polars are able to be a part of @Filly_5
Hobiyee Hobiyee! The Nisga'a celebration of the new year happens every Feb/Mar. It signifies the first crescent moon. Nisga'a people of N.W BC watch for the moon and star's positioning as a prediction of the coming harvest season. Watch the video for more! https://t.co/lKB7LpQTd8
@PGSS_Polars are enjoying all of the land based learning opportunities for students. Big thanks to @DArcy02127084, Justin Fillion and @JocelynMarren for taking kids out ice fishing
