My appearance on @MSNBC this afternoon urging @SpeakerPelosi to condemn @realDonaldTrump’s actions for what they are, an incitement to violence against @IlhanMN and all Muslims.
In all seriousness, I actually don’t care about Trump tweeting Tiger. Or Tiger’s ✌🏾baggage✌🏾. It’s interesting watching these reactions to Tiger’s win because it’s proof we always can compartmentalize to suit narratives that comfort us.
We say America loves a good comeback story. We do. We also love to tear people down out of a sense of insecurity and inferiority. Tiger won. I don’t care if he’s a changed person, because I don’t need him to be. Winning doesn’t make you anything else but a winner.
Women—especially women of color—have been told to go slow, to not be seen and to not be heard for many years.
We are not in Congress to be invisible. In the words of Congressman John Lewis, we are here to make good trouble. 💪🏽
Make no mistake, @realDonaldTrump’s video was a call to arms. He’s inciting violence, stoking xenophobia, promoting Islamophobia and calling upon his white nationalist base to attack a WOC because he believes himself to be genetically superior to her. #IStandWithIlhan ✊🏾🙏🏾💪🏾
You don’t have to agree with @ilhan on a single political issue to stand with her at this moment. You simply have to believe that it’s terrifying what they’re doing to her. #IStandwithIlhan
.@IlhanMN’s identity lies at the intersection of everything white America has been taught to fear and eliminate: black, female, immigrant, visibly Muslim.
Its sad that in America in 2019, we have legitimate reasons to fear for her safety.
How low we have sunk as a country for the president to weaponize terrorism purely for political purposes against @IlhanMN, the first of two Muslim Congresswomen. It is so dangerous--to her life and to our country. https://t.co/3oeMpOSuFi
I'm not a lifelong Nip fan, nor do I know all his music. But I think anyone who is a true hip hop fan can hear the heart/skill he put into victory. And when I listened to him speak, felt him. I mean, look at how many people he touched! RIP Nip.
This happened yesterday at Barnard College. A black Columbia University student was entering the library when he was racially profiled by public safety officers. They took his ID. They pinned him down.

One of the ugly aftermaths of 9/11 that is too often ignored is the codified profiling of Muslim-Americans solely bc of their faith.
No-fly lists. Warantless mosque surveillance. All of it.
To fear+suspect all Muslims due to the actions of terrorists is bigotry. Plain & simple.
Oh, you know... just made the Philly Fashion Week IG page. No big deal. 😜 Thanks joymasi for the photo. 📷 📸 #Repost@PhillyFashionWk with get_repost
