@NotiPlay_ It does control the price by not allowing competition on their platform. I wonder what they will say to that. If they think this is still wrong, do it and then see.
@6DonPerry9@SkullZSkeleton Not when they aren’t coming out in physical, conveniently getting rid of overhead costs and paying and treating their staff poorly.
@UltraHDBluray If they are smart now, as they have a new leader who seems consumer friendly, they should consider this at minimum. It will be their best decision in every way possible. You cannot save a platform with a shrinking userbase and this will fix that issue.
@YahyaStillGamin@ICGOriginal Yes, they may not be able to force physical but they can absolutely take steps to allow competition to enter their console. Code in box still leads through their app store, effectively making it a monopoly. It's why Apple had to open their phone to other stores as well.
@YahyaStillGamin@ICGOriginal False equivalence. Sony holds a monopoly now that there is no physical. A code in a box is same as a digital purchase with extra steps. Digital cannot be transferred, essentially killing the second hand market and thus a huge factor that drives the price down.
@astaranx Sony really dug themselves into a hole here. They would’ve been fine had they kept going as they were, but their greed opened them up to legal action. If they're forced to allow other stores on PlayStation, they'll be much less profitable.
@BringBackBanjoK Only thing I can think of is Broccoli heads that are too young to understand how the world works or more plausible reason is bot farms to influence public opinion. Remember, most of the internet traffic isn’t from humans.
@Firebreather452 If it means nothing, why did Sony get so generous in offering 50% off on their already ridiculously priced PS Plus?
The corporate shills always love to spout nonsense that only proves how out of touch they are about reality and how things actually work.
@MicrosoftvApple Are you looking at profit margins just from hardware manufacturing costs? Because R&D, engineering, funding future projects including software development & updates and paying for a world class customer service is a part of that cost. Despite that, their costs are lower than xyz.
@OrwellNGoode Well no, ot does profit them but not in this way lol. Most money gets spent back to the company hosting this charity. Often have common board of directors steering the charity itself in a favourable way and most of them pay themselves an over inflated salaries.
@Totalpackage2k@Nick_Marseil In my experience people IRL actually don’t go to X to post this, but they are mad. Add the fact that my friends will get what I get to play together, ur massively underestimating the reality here. Ratio on Sony’s post itself is telling. Especially now that law makers are involved
🚨BREAKING: The legal pressure on Sony is building faster than most people realize.
-July 1: Sony announces discs end January 2028.
-July 3: Brazilian federal deputy files a formal complaint citing GTA 6.
-July 8: Brazil's consumer protection agency tells Sony it must respect digital ownership rights.
That's one week from announcement to regulatory response. Add the Dutch lawsuit over monopoly pricing, French politicians pushing ownership laws, PS Plus boycotts, and console jailbreaking.
GTA 6 is the most pre-ordered game in history.
It's also accidentally becoming the legal test case for whether you actually own the games you pay for.
