I am so troubled by the course of our nation, where laws multiply the wealth of the best off while offering a poverty minimum wage for millions. BBB seeks to change this by better education, daycare, housing and support for raising childrenpaid for by fair taxes on the best off.
The White House is now calling out @Sen_JoeManchin for lying to the President’s face on multiple occasions.
It’s really worth clicking on this and reading the statement they just released. I’ve never seen such a thing.
Astonished. #CowardManchin https://t.co/GA6Zuk8pzi
Joe Manchin blames inflation on his inability to vote for the Build Back Better Act.
Yet BBB will lower costs on everything from health care to child care—which 17 Nobel Prize-winning economists say will ease long-term inflationary pressures.
Manchin is lying.
Joe Manchin makes $500,000 a year from one of the dirtiest coal plants in West Virginia. That’s more than twice his salary as U.S. senator. How is this even legal?
If Sen. Manchin wants to vote against the Build Back Better Act, he should have the opportunity to do so with a floor vote as soon as the Senate returns.
So sad that @Sen_JoeManchin is so terrified of Big Pharma, Big Fossil Fuel, and the rightwing billionaires that he is unwilling to get dental and childcare and less expensive energy for people who live in West Virginia. What a fucking coward!
Can someone explain to me how a $768,000,000,000 defense bill is no problem, but investing in paid family leave, child care, universal-pre k or averting climate apocalypse is supposedly “unaffordable”?
This otherwordly view is not a city in the clouds: it's Chicago reflected in Lake Michigan captured by photographer Mark Hersch in 2014 on an airplane on approach to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport [source, read more: https://t.co/SvTTr1PWyj]
Tax cuts for the rich including people so wealthy they don't even work ---> "Rewards job creators and stimulates the economy"
Support for workers, kids, health, education, student debt relief, green energy ---> "Causes inflation and makes people lazy"
🤔
Unless something changes, today will be the last day the Senate is in session. That means the military budget passed and they carved out the filibuster for the debt ceiling, while there was no action on BBB and voting rights. Shameful.
I will make a large bet that this is fossil fuel money out to take down the climate elements of our bill. Chamber members who say they want climate action need to insist on knowing who’s paying. It’s been #ChamberofCarbon for too damned long.

You can disagree. You can fight for your ideas. But when we have zero support from Republicans, two Democrats cannot torpedo a bill supported overwhelmingly by the American people. I do not respect that kind of arrogance.
