I've been on Twitter/X for 15 years, but now it's time to say goodbye.
This used to be a great place for real-time news, commentary, jokes, travel tips, media clips, celebrity banter, all kinds of useful/fun content. It still can be some of those things, some of the time.

I know that X is still the bigger source & audience for content, but I hope that some of the great journalists who are still posting on X will make the switch soon (as, for example, @MiriamElder did and @ichbinilya is doing)

Hard not to feel a bit filthy using Musk’s disinformation platform to communicate about the world of truth and lies right now. That’s why you’ve seen a bit less of me recently. But like using a public lavatory I suppose: Needs must.
Truly disturbing report in the WSJ: Lawyers at Twitter are threatening advertisers to spend more money on X "or else" X owner Elon Musk will leverage his close relationship with Trump to torpedo mergers. This goes beyond a conflict of interest. It's straight up extortion.
@FedExHelp I stayed home all day awaiting a delivery, just got a message that delivery was attempted but "recipient was unavailable" which is absolutely not true. Website gives no options for rescheduling. Please contact me
The 2024 Microsoft Excel Championship just wrapped in Las Vegas.
It was a huge upset: financial due diligence expert Michael Jarman (Canada) topped 3x defending champion and actuary Andrew “The Annihilator” Ngai (Australia).
Jarman beat 12 opponents in various 30-minute Excel case study challenges over 7+ hours:
Best parts of the tournament for these spreadsheet athletes:
▫️This clip below of live-stream announcers losing their minds over pivot tables and data labeling (as clock winds down).
▫️The tournament has its own theme song with lit lyrics including “it’s the battle of the titans, the best keyboard tappers in the land / they’ve all been training for this moment, who’s getting stuck in the function sand?” (at the 1:12 mark)
What did Jarman get for winning? A $5k cash prize and a glorious Wrestling Championship Belt.
