@NotEnoughEarth Good to hear. The "connections" element is vital for those that don't have the time in the day to access formally designated greenspaces. Hopefully the streetspace allocation framework cited in the emerging policy will address this. quick wins everywhere!
@jazzearthgirl@EuanHyslop @edjthornley Not sure. The West Edinbugh Link project proposes a new single stage crossing, but this is down at Dechmont Rd. Perhaps they are doing same here. Certainly hope we are not losing it, as it connects well to Gyle Park/bus stops from East Craigs.
Annual reminder about how much space cars actually need... Craigs Rd edition.
Re-allocation of road-space need not be arduous or contentious...
Enjoy the festive period and happy walking/wheeling/cycling!
#eastcraigs#placemaking
Here’s Craigs Road on a snowy day. Nature showing us how how little space cars need and how much room there is for pedestrian friendly interventions. #eastcraigs#placemaking
@GylerNorth Indeed... Tracsis data (during COVID) shows that 1 in 20 journeys are over 35 mph, and half of all journeys are more than 20mph. The road is wide as a runway and speed humps are ineffective. The posted speed limit is clearly not enough @CllrScottArthur
Great to hear that Craigs Road will be considered in this assessment. A more holistic approach to account for local amenity and routes to bus stops as well as tackling crossings at main arteries would be sought, but it's a STEP in the right direction!
@jaykay_doha @CllrScottArthur huge opportunity on Craigs Road for these, given the frontage-to-frontage space available and it would make walking/cycling journeys far more attractive, as well as a speed reduction measure in a rat-run area!
If you live or work in the Merchiston area, then check out this consultation survey prepared by the community about their "Pavement" project, which aims to make the Polwarth R/A area more walking-friendly.

@MerchistonCC
East Craigs is on the front-line of the congestion burden caused by the commuter belt.
So it's refreshing to see that a holistic perspective is being taken by @CllrScottArthur here, and we hope to see a robust PTAP to follow.
Robust ATAP still required also.
Heavy rains usually follow unusually high heat... so climate adaptation will surely be the next focus.
Too simplistic a view to suggest these should be installed across the city?
If they segregate motorised users from non, then better.
Spruces the place up a bit too, eh?
It would be great to see these installed down the full length of
#craigsroad in #eastcraigs.
Multiple solutions…
Climate mitigation + cleaner air + segregation from traffic + improved public realm. Bang for buck! 💰
#DRUMBRAE Roundabout...
It's a huge barrier between communities and amenity in the West of Edinburgh. Is it Edinburgh's best example of the need for a #CYCLOPS junction?
Enough in the developer contribution pot @CllrScottArthur to look at feasibility?
@annescott_edin @edjthornley @EuanHyslop The City Plan 2030 does recognise the safeguards... but these AT arrows lead to unsafe areas and no direct segregated East-West route for AT. There's also the small matter of drum brae r/a. @CllrScottArthur will there be ANY chance of revision?
A reminder of the development burden to the Gyle/Drum Brae area @annescott_edin @edjthornley @EuanHyslop
Community deserves to know what the CEC plans to do with the S 75 💰
Developments are promoted as "sustainable". Possible without a coherent AT/PT plan for West and no WEL?
Key update on the West Edinburgh Link: a "review on the West Edinburgh Link project has resulted in the deferral of the Northern section of the WEL route, inclusive of the proposed bridge over the Fife railway line, until 2025 or until further funding becomes available"
@MarcoGBiagi It's worth noting that the project scope has been reduced with East Craigs and area (already subject to heavy developmental burden) will now not benefit from the project.
@JohnGailey10@SpokesLothian Any particular one, or all of them?
I note that there are no SfP measures at the hot spots... Gogar, Barnton, Drum Brae etc.
Edi West Congestion is caused by the sheer number of cars, not measures that take up a v small % of total road space.
Any status quo in local transport will result in #eastcraigs#craigmount and #drumbrae being battered by congestion and air pollution for the next election cycle.
Great to see a summary of what all parties intend to do about it, in Spokes' summary below. #EdinburghElects
All #Eastcraigs and #Craigmount residents benefit!!
(yes - even the motorists, as they are exempt from the charges and congestion is reduced) 🚗🚲🦽🛴🚸
Evidence shows this works. ECBC welcomes this policy making. #livelocal#edinburghelects.
