Finally finished planning all five units for the Edexcel GCSE Migrants in Britain topic! All lesson resources can be found at the link above - hope they are useful to people currently teaching it or thinking of switching
Here are my resources for the first two units I’ve planned so far for the Migration GCSE topic. Hope they’re useful to others. Really enjoyed planning these lessons and can’t wait to teach them next year! https://t.co/VHubL5Oq3X
After many years of teaching Crime & Punishment we’re taking the plunge and switching to Migration. Very excited to start planning this - if anyone has already switched and has any advice/tips/useful resources I’d be very grateful
Absolutely loved my first @1972SHP conference. It’s going to be a fixture in the calendar every year from now on. Incredible work @danlyndon and everyone else involved.
First up for Pearson Migrants course support: a FREE webinar hosted by @histassoc and @BL_Learning on Wednesday 3rd July. Joining this event unlocks loads of valuable resources: @britishlibrary sources & our @Justice2History lesson resources so you can teach with them next year!

@SwadhinataTrust @oxhse Sad to have missed this! We’re teaching about WUAR in a couple of weeks as part of new y8 enquiry on anti-racist struggles in the East End. Would you be interested in coming in to speak to students?
Just discovered this fantastic resource on the fight for equality in Tower Hamlets. Some great oral histories and primary sources focused on anti-fascist and anti-racist struggles in the East End https://t.co/khyqoCWZzN
For the 220th anniversary of the Haitian Revolution here is a lesson looking at change and continuity in Haiti as part of a wider enquiry on the French Revolution

@TheSpursWatch@SpursSongSheet how about to the tune of Rivers of Babylon:
Guglielmo Vicario
Our number 1
He would’ve signed in blood
To come and play at Tottenham
He would’ve walked from Italy
To White Hart Lane
Cos with Big Ange
We’ve got our Tottenham back again
Hi all, This week Saturday myself and Tony Warner and I will be discussing our book about the Black British GCSE. Not to be missed. Please find tickets here://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/how-to-teach-gcse-black-history-tickets-649130816747
@ed_durbin Aha I thought that seemed like an abnormally large amount of time dedicated to History but put it down to impressive powers of persuasion with slt
Looks great! Wondering if anyone who teaches in a school with one double lesson a week has managed to achieve this kind of breadth at KS3 and how they’ve done it. It feels like we’re never going to be able to manage more than six enquiries each year
We discovered some incredible stories I’d never heard before eg Edward Francis, enslaved servant to the lion-keeper in the Tower of London’s menagerie. Ηe attempted to murder his owner by putting rat poison in his porridge but he survived, only to appeal for clemency for Francis!
Fantastic Y7 trip to @LdnMetArchives to visit their Unforgotten Lives exhibition about Londoners of African, Asian, Caribbean & Indigenous descent from 1560-1860. Students loved digging into the primary sources used for the exhibition - great way to introduce them to archives
