Akure is trending because early this
morning residents panicked, fearing a terrorist attack, only to find out it was EFCC officers shooting recklessly, busting doors and brutalizing students at FECA.
An EFCC officer is seen sticking out of the window of a moving bus, joyously firing an AK-47 towards the school, Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State.
Apparently, they targeted an estate in the campus area and also some apartments inside the campus. A student jumped from the balcony of a two storey building into another compound, and damaged his leg.
The operatives arrived in two Hummer buses and a Toyota Hilux, dressed in black overalls. They made their way onto the school campus, searching for suspected Yahoo boys, and made several arrests, filling the two buses and the Hilux, and confiscating three sedan cars.
Apparently, EFCC have been present and operating quietly around Ado Ekiti for the past two weeks, but today they extended their operations to FECA, Ondo State, which is about an hour drive from Ado-Ekiti. It’s reportedly the second raid in Akure within 14 days.
Two years ago, in June 2024, the EFCC recorded a bountiful number of arrests in Akure following a midnight raid on Signature and Alba Royale nightclubs.
Where they reportedly snatched jewelries, powerbanks, wristwatches, phones, wigs, shoes and allegedly ate all the noodles and barbecues the chefs were preparing for guests.
When they were done with the armed-robbery themed raid, they reportedly destroyed all the CCTV cameras, destroyed the machine and took tapes that recorded their operation.
In their words, according to victims/witnesses.
“we will kill you nothing will happen”
“Your phone is clean but too expensive you’re a yahoo boy”
“If you’re driving Lexus or Benz come out”
EFCC later released a statement denying the assault and cctv wreckage. They even said the footage of their assault was 'doctored'.
However they subsequently paraded 127 suspected fraudsters. But today’s raid hasn’t been denied or confirmed or tagged AI generated.. yet.
