Down towards the ocean far below, around me millions upon millions of others. My brothers and sisters.

Sunlight burst through the cloud. Individually insignificant, together we filled the sky with a thousand rainbow hues.

Both are tools for exerting power over the world; to enable the ideas in the mind to shape the reality outside it.

That is why, he decreed, all captured enemies must be disarmed.

The way it looked directly at me was a bit unsettling, but then it nuzzled my hand.

That I found #proof of my solution in the ancient structures was not surprising.

The angles of their surfaces perfectly captured the essence of the problem.

The surprise was its source - not my genius, but what we found under that stone unmoved since the last ice age.

The one to blame is the weak man who couldn’t stop them taking his little girl away from him.

I’m just the one who looks for her. I’m not that other man any more.

The door opened. Her mind glitched. An eldritch disconnect with the physical world.

This was not what she’d meant. The tentacle snaked towards her.

The mirror revealed salt stains of tears drying around his eyes. Some still wet, mixing with mascara.

Smudged lipstick merged with the purple bruise rising on his cheek.

He looked down at his ripped and ruined #gown. For a few precious minutes he had felt beautiful.
