Ukrainian refugees living in Roscommon have been growing their own food with the support of local farmer Tommy Earley @EcoAllen . I harvested potatoes with them this week for a report airing tomorrow on @RTERadio1@RTECountryWide
Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday evening's chat in Dowra's old Courthouse.
We talked about the unique and rich landscape of west Cavan and Leitrim around the catchment of #UpperShannon and #LoughAllen. A beautiful part of the country. Andy King and Tommy Earley in action below.
The community sowed the oat seed in April and today we harvested them with a meitheal on @EcoAllen Farm on the shores of Lough Allen. There was music, song, dance, homemade food, farming advice and lots of chat and laughter.

@EdwinaGuckian ...a little bit of writing about the oat sowing at @EcoAllen with Tommy Earley. Hope it might be worth a look perhaps. https://t.co/0BYWwriN3O
