🦁 On World Lion Day, we celebrate India’s remarkable journey in lion conservation.
India’s success in conserving the Asiatic Lion is a proud testament to our unwavering commitment to wildlife and biodiversity. From protecting critical habitats to strengthening conservation efforts, India has demonstrated that development and nature conservation can move forward together.
From 523 in 2015 to 891 in 2025, the steady growth of the Asiatic Lion population reflects the dedication of our forest officials, conservationists, local communities and all those working tirelessly to protect this magnificent species.
As we mark World Lion Day, let us reaffirm our resolve to safeguard our natural heritage and ensure that the roar of the Asiatic Lion continues to resonate for generations to come.

On the occasion of International Tiger Day, reviewed an exhibition showcasing the finest entries from the painting, sketching, slogan-writing, and mask-making competitions organised for school children across Delhi-NCR on the theme 'Save Tiger'.
A nationwide tiger conservation awareness campaign was also conducted through Eco-clubs under the Ministry's Environment Education Programme, with a special focus on schools located in and around Tiger Reserves.
It was a privilege to interact with these young minds and felicitate the best performers. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to conservation inspire hope for a future where both tigers and nature continue to thrive.

Water conservation begins with collective action.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi , the #CatchTheRain campaign has grown into a nationwide people's movement, encouraging citizens to conserve every drop of rainwater and strengthen India's water security.
Launched with the simple message, "Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls," the campaign has inspired rainwater harvesting, rejuvenation of traditional water bodies, watershed development and groundwater recharge across the country.
The Ecoclub Annual Activity Report under the Environment Education Programme for the year 2025–26 was released by Shri Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Hon’ble Minister, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, Odisha, during the State-Level #WED2026 celebrations at Bhubaneswar.
Inaugurated 18 ‘Namo Oxygen Parks’ across Delhi and launched a series of environmental initiatives under the nationwide campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ on the occasion of World Environment Day along with Delhi Chief Minister Smt @gupta_rekha ji and MoS Shri @KVSinghMPGonda ji.
The event, held at Namo Oxygen Park, Maidangarhi, marked a significant step towards strengthening urban greening, improving air quality and promoting community-led environmental stewardship in the National Capital Territory.
The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, initiated by PM Shri @narendramodi ji, has transformed tree plantation into a people's movement rooted in gratitude, responsibility and environmental consciousness. I urge all citizens not only to plant trees but also to nurture and protect them for future generations.

Best wishes to everyone on World Environment Day. I would like to applaud all those passionate about environmental conservation. This is a day to reaffirm our commitment to protecting our environment and furthering growth that is sustainable. Numerous efforts by our Government over the last decade highlight our work in this direction. Some of India’s key successes include expanding green cover and a rise in the population of several animals. The people of India have shown how collective efforts, policies, belief in science and innovation can improve our environment.
Over the last 12 years, under PM Shri @narendramodi ji's environmentally sensitive leadership, India has made great strides in wildlife conservation.
At a time the world is losing wildlife, India continues to ensure they thrive and prosper.
