@0xYeeeew@peterrhague Property inflation is largely caused by failed government policies over decades, no buys a โhomeโ to make money as you never see it anyway. You pay for it all your life and pay taxes monthly also. Politicians spin taxes to make the less well off envious enough to vote for them
@dontdelay@dave656400 Untaxed ๐๐ so many people this week have been banging on about council tax being related to a properties value. We overpay for tax on everything to go towards government overspending. Hence inflation. How about less government spending?
@distantbarking Both my parents worked full time, all my friends were from the council estate, many parents didnโt work. They all got free school dinners, new kitchens new roof etc. we got none of this and had less than them. We were far poorer for working.
@JSalisburyJones Youโre missing the point, council tax is to pay for local services, it shouldnโt penalise property inflation that the government has caused and most will never benefit from. Everyone should pay the same
@JSalisburyJones Why only recent ones? This is why it wonโt work, every homeowner has already paid stamp which was already a rip off. Itโs the governments way of saying itโs their property but theyโll let you have it for a fee
@shanejones Itโs never been based on that type of value, you are paying for the same service no matter where you live. We should pay per person in a household as you are using more services
@JamesP728 Iโm in the north, unlikely to see much benefit but I donโt feel we should, you are paying for a service not what your home is worth. Bins/police/streetlights should cost the same everywhere. It should be based on the amount of people in the property not its value
