Kelly Ryerson is calling on all of us to stand up against the government’s push for pesticide immunity shields — specifically Section 453 of the spending bill.

The policy would protect chemical companies from being sued when their products make people sick.

“We are in a really scary time in which the chemical companies and certain legislators are willing to take away our rights to sue chemical manufacturers if we get sick from exposure to their poisons.”

“This has been a multi-year effort on the part of chemical manufacturers, especially led by Bayer, the maker of glyphosate and the original Roundup product.”

“Their cancer litigation has left them veering on the edge of bankruptcy. Their stock price has crashed over 70% because of it.”

“There’s plenty of evidence to show that glyphosate indeed can cause cancer.”

“Instead of putting a warning label on the product, they would rather take our rights away to sue.”

“Right now, there’s a current bill called Section 453 of the appropriations spending bill — language that would prevent us from being able to sue if we are sick.”

“We expect this wording will be back in the Farm Bill coming out in October — and chemical companies couldn’t be happier.”
