@DBE_SA Qualified teachers should be hired for the TA position and be paid half of what teachers are paid. In this way, it will be a win win. Teachers will be employed and learners will have more quality teachers.
Same goes for the teaching profession, we need to find inventive ways to make our work easier and decrease the likelihood of job stress and burnout. #10STCSA
@Sipho_Ed I have seen in my community that in the strict schools, the safety measures are followed by everyone whilst in the not so strict schools the safety measures are only followed by a few.
@Sipho_Ed The measures are effective if they are followed exactly how they are supposed to be. Therefore how effective they are is based on how each school is being run, i.e. in private schools where rules are followed they are effective while that is not be the case in disruptive schools.
This is an article I read a few weeks ago, it is about teacher burnout. It tells us about the symptoms of burnout and we can recover and prevent burnout as teachers. #TDS2021#10STCSA https://t.co/93qm4ilNNh
To everybody beginning their teacher training year:
Let yourself cry, make mistakes, ask for help, laugh about your slip ups, celebrate every success (especially the tiny ones), but most importantly don’t give up. It’s going to be a challenging year but it’s a rewarding one 💕
@unqobi I feel that the government has done nothing to support teachers and learners during this time except providing masks and sanitizers. The sad reality is that South Africa is not ready for moving towards online education and probably won’t be anytime soon. #TDS2021
Many countries such as Japan, Germany, China etc. use their own language as the medium of instruction in teaching and learning. If decolonization of the South African curriculum were to be achieved, would we see an improvement in learner achievement? #10STCSA
“The biggest disease today is not leprosy or cancer. It’s the feeling of getting uncared for, unwanted— of being deserted and alone.”

Today, reach out to some people you haven’t seen in a while. Caring makes the world larger with small acts of kindness.
The emergency transition from traditional learning to online learning was not properly planned. Educators were not psychological and professional prepared.
What has the government done to support educators psychological and professional?

Hello TDS students and 10 Day Twitter Challenge participants . I have enjoyed the first half of the 10 day challenge even though I had a tough time navigating Twitter. It has been great to read tweets about the education profession and meeting other educators. #TDS2021#10STCSA
