@wxbrad@AdamShort143 Some of the helos in play are equipped with hoisting equipment where rescuers can be lowered to victims. NC-HART (helicopter aquatic rescue team) is a joint mission between the National Guard and firefighters from across the state cross trained for helo based rescue.
@CovertShores @salisbot My other comments seem to have disappeared but all I can think about is the CSS Hunley. Accidental literal suicide submarine torpedo all mixed into one.
@CovertShores Where does the CSS H. L. Hunley fall into this mix? 😂 Asking as a “union” guy who just so happens to be from Charleston, South Carolina.
Jokes aside, it’s kinda fascinating that it all came full circle (torpedo joke not intended).

@wegien82@SheaGibsonWx Very likely that the wingman stuck around to keep eyes on the ejected pilot. Not to mention, visibility was likely very poor, given the weather that afternoon.
@wbdchas@CityCharleston If you were just thanking them for keeping us as prepared as possible, thank you!
I think there have been somewhat extraordinary improvements to our city’s infrastructure over the last decade, much of which have been in motion for a while, but continue to expand.
