NEW: Lipscomb's Alexander Llinas pitched well again at #MississippiState, even if the final box score doesn't necessarily say so.
The crowd recognized it, and gave him a standing ovation
"It was one of the coolest moments ever."

@EverythingRebs I think an argument could be made that the 2 run walk off shot in the bottom of the 11th was the losing play.
But, by no means do I want to stop you from covering two big brothers’ rivalry series.
The game was...a cliffhanger. It started out like Murphy's law, everything going wrong, umpteen reasons that would prove all the naysayers right. And true, this is but one game, not even a series win, yet.
But, as someone remarked tonight, if/when you invest this much pitching (226 pitches thrown by six different players), you'd better win. And, they did. A crowd of 13489 at Dudy Noble Field, many of whom persevered through the rain, got louder as it got smaller.
And who wasn't sitting there, shaking their heads, when LSU jumped out front, punched Mississippi State in the mouth, and threatened to do what they've done so many times before, home and away. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, and everything.
Whoa, not so fast. A funny thing happened. The Mississippi State Bulldogs woke from the groggy episode of "Nothing Changes" and basically said, "Not here, not today."
And they had to do it again, and again. After holding LSU's offense down after 3-0 and 7-3 leads to pull into a 7-7 tie, LSU threatened to steal another one with a run in the 9th and an 8-7 lead. Down to two outs and 0-2, State gets the tying run. Then, when LSU threatens another lead, a dying quail headed to the ground to score another lead run, along comes this dude flying through the air like he's a superhero or something.
And finally, the stubbornness to not relent, the mental toughness to stop the buck, was rewarded. A home run, a walkoff win, and the long-time nemesis is repelled, foiled until at least the next game.
And the confidence you get from it? We'll find out sometime Saturday. Expect just as much of a challenge from LSU as they brought today. But, you're just as justified to expect another Bulldog win. It won't be easy, it never is against them, but it is always, always, worth it.
Here are postgame comments from Dane Burns and Kevin Milewski. There were so many heroes tonight, too many to mention. But, that's the personality of this team. All for one, one for all.
The 'Starkville vs. Everybody' branding is strong, but the $8-$78 price point is where the rubber meets the road. In this economy, fan fatigue is real, and third-party platforms have to deliver strong ROI to keep subscribers from churning after the first month. It’s a bold play for State, but sustainability in these membership models is the biggest hurdle we’re seeing right now.
Takes stones to leave what’s safe and comfortable to pursue the unknown potential of what could be. I personally know, and it’s scary.
Join me in supporting a good man with a dream, that’s directly related to the Bulldogs. #HailState
