Francis Ford Coppola is known for saying that “the shot” in Cinema is like “the sentence” in literature: piece together a few shots, you have a paragraph. It’s relevant now when we see a reduction in shot length in today’s films & far more cuts in editing. Bring back “the shot”.
Cadburys Easter eggs are being boycotted in all shops! People do not want palm oil they want the proper eggs we used to have! Get it off the shelves! Boycott Cadbury!
FIFA has just announced it will not ban Israel from the World Cup.
Instead it is giving the Israeli football federation a 'light fine' for discrimination against Palestinians.
FIFA needs to be cancelled.
I think it is abundantly clear that the elite multimillionaire class love to preach inclusion, acceptance and understanding of disabled people until they are actually confronted with disability.
They will stand on stage and applaud a film about the struggles of living with Tourette’s. They will celebrate the awareness. They will congratulate themselves on being progressive.
But the moment they are faced with the hard, gritty reality of Tourette’s uncensored and unscripted for all to see and hear, the tone changes.
Suddenly they are shocked. Suddenly they are appalled. Suddenly they are not quite as inclusive, accepting or understanding after all.
The mask of virtue slipped.
You invited a man with Tourette’s into the room. You were made aware of his condition. You applauded him. And then when Tourette’s did exactly what Tourette’s does, you recoiled.
You cannot celebrate the story and reject the reality.
Tourette’s is not tidy. It is not convenient. It is not performative. It is neurological. It is involuntary. It does not edit itself for elite comfort.
The irony is this. Tourette’s is louder than ever right now. More people are learning. More people are asking questions. More people are understanding.
You tried to distance yourselves from the reality. Instead you amplified it.
We are all thinking of you Johnny. We are with you. And support for you and for everyone living with Tourette’s is only growing.
John Davidson is not a racist; he has Tourette's, which he has no control over.
If I thought he was being deliberately racist, this page would criticise him in the extreme.
He went to the BAFTAs to receive an award, not to receive idiotic abuse.
I stand with John
This will probably go down as one of the most bizarre tweets I've posted.
John Davidson, a man that has battled tourettes syndrome most of his life. A condition that causes the person to have involuntary outburts of random words is now actually being cancelled because he had an involuntary reaction and said the N-word on TV.
Fuckin' hell!
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend people watch the movie, I SWEAR.
It is an incredible piece of cinema about John's life that saw him face bullying, corporal punishment, his family fall apart because of his condition but battle through it all and receive an MBE from the Queen.
Honestly take a long hard look at yourself if you're giving him a hard time.
PS, GFY!
In one evening, John Davidson's involuntary outbursts at the BAFTAs have done more to raise worldwide awareness of Tourettes than anything else.
I really hope that people will now go and see the movie 'I Swear'
I laughed and I cried. Such a beautiful film
