Today, because of the accident of survival, our only choice is what life we want to live.
Our people will never — and I mean never — be left for dead again. - President Kagame at #Kwibuka30
The truth and power in this speech
are reverberating in my mind.
"Rwandans will never understand why any country would remain intentionally vague about who was targeted in the genocide. Such ambiguity is, in fact, a form of denial, which is a crime in and of itself, and Rwanda will always challenge it." President Kagame | #Kwibuka30
Today marks the beginning of #Kwibuka30. 30 years since the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
As Rwandans of course know, but as other readers might not, the word “Kwibuka” is a Kinyarwanda word. It means “To Remember.”
This August will mark three years since @solaafghanistan arrived in Rwanda. Three years since my school community stepped off airplanes and onto the tarmac and the first Rwandan citizens who stood there waiting to meet us were trauma counselors. Not customs officials or security officers. Trauma counselors.
They told us that they understood what we were feeling, and that we were welcome here. They told us to lay down our burdens, and belong.
I am grateful, forever grateful, for the generosity of Rwanda and the Rwandan people.
And I am with you today, at your side.
Remember. Unite. Renew.
“Let me stop you right there…”
Caribbean nation Guyana is booming after discovering oil. BBC’s Stephen Sackur puts it to President @presidentaligy; lobbyists say oil is bad for the climate.
Dude wasn’t having it. Mans was ready!
There's a lot of speculation about whether OpenAI's video generation model Sora has a 'physics engine' (bolstered by OAI's own claims about 'world simulation'). Like the debate about world models in LLMs, this question is both genuinely interesting and somewhat ill-defined. 🧵1/
Life is beautiful and happiness is a gift.🎁
I should try to remember that difficulties pass. 🧘♂️
It’s hard to remember this simple fact when in the middle of a hard day!
