I have to admit, I always wondered what this part of Psalm 23 meant. I thought “He anoints my head with oil” was figurative language for God keeping the Psalmist healthy. I never knew this parallel.
Anoint my head with oil
“Sheep can get their head caught in briers and die trying to get untangled. There are horrid little flies that like to torment sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils which turn into worms and drive the sheep to beat their head against a rock, sometimes to death. Their ears and eyes are also susceptible to tormenting insects. So the shepherd anoints their whole head with oil. Then there is peace. That oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep. Do you have times of mental torment? Do the worrisome thoughts invade your mind over and over? Do you beat your head against a wall trying to stop them? Have you ever asked God to anoint your head with oil? He has an endless supply! His oil protects and makes it possible for you to fix your heart, mind, and eyes on Him today and always! There is peace in the valley! May our good good Father anoint your head with oil today so that your cup overflows with blessings! God is good and He is faithful!!”
The weird thing about reading so much as a child and gaining a huge vocabulary from that is I can't define a lot of the words I use, I just...know that they would fit correctly in a specific sentence? Does anyone else experience that?
Do you know what's more painful about Ochanya's predicament?
She was doing so well in the village school. She said she wanted to be a medical doctor when she grows up.
Winifred's mum returned to the village one Christmas.
Decided to take Ochanya to the City to get good education since she was sound and intelligent.
And that was the end of her dreams, her ambition, and her life.
Winifred's dad and brother raped her for five years till she d!ed.
Guess what!
The rapists children are doing so well in life.
Winifred is now a lawyer and a social media influencer.
Victor is doing so well in his musical career, and he's about to release a track.
Ihotu, the rapist's last born who was in the same class with Ochanya just got admission to Benue State University.
Ochanya would have been 20years now, and probably in her 100level studying her dream course, Medicine and Surgery in Benue State University.
But she was used as the sacrificial lamb.
Can I tell you something?
Ochanya has come back to demand for justice.
This time around, with you, I and millions of Nigerians solidly behind her shouting for justice.
This time around, we will not allow the case to be swept under the carpet like it was in 2018.
Until justice prevails, we remain Ochanya's voice.
Remember, silence in the face of injustice is INJUSTICE—and evil.

Infidelity doesn't make you macho or strong. It just means you don't have a moral compass and can't be trusted.
Once I see that anyone I am doing business with cheats on their spouse, I don't trust them anymore. They could do it to me too. It is a weakness.
UPDATE: Akeju Dami aka Scholez has been sentenced to 3 months in prison this evening.

I saw a tweet about some kids taking their own lives because they were so scared of their parents finding out about something, and I could relate deeply. In 2009, I was in 100L and after my first semester, I found out I was owing CU school fees.
I say 'found out' because we had paid everything in instalment at the beginning of the semester, but due to an error on my part, one of the transactions didn’t go through, and I didn’t realize it at the time.
I believe it was around 100k naira as my total fees were 405k. This wasn’t easy for my parents to pay. Back then, when you deposited your fees at the bank, they’d generate an E-tranzact PIN to pay your fees online. If you lost the PIN, it was almost as bad as losing the money you paid to the bank. I wasn’t great at keeping documents, so I had thrown away the paper the PIN was printed on.
When I got home for the holiday, the scared 15-year old me couldn’t bring myself to tell my dad because I was so scared. The shouting that would follow would make you wish you were dead. I wasn’t afraid of my mom, but I knew she’d tell him if I told her.
I searched the house hoping to find the PIN but had no luck. I kept telling myself that the only solution was to die. Looking back now, I can’t believe I considered ending my life over 100k. Fear and depression had me in a chokehold.
That fateful day, I went out to buy what I planned to use. On my way to the pharmacy, a random person smiled and asked how I was doing. That simple act made me reconsider my decision. When people tell me I smile a lot, I just think back because it literally saved my life.
I still didn’t tell my parents, but something pushed me to call the bank. They told me there was a way to regenerate the PIN if I brought in certain documents. The issue was eventually resolved without any hassle.
Now that I have a child, I can’t imagine raising him in fear. Fear can lead to so many bad decisions, especially for kids who don’t know better. Please, break the cycle.
