Last week, the East Scotland URNU commerated the 106th anniversary of the Armistice. For the first time in many years, the unit had a chaplain cadet to lead us for this service, of which he did an excellent job.
Thank you to everyone who turned up and participated.
Over the weekend, URNU East Scotland competed in an inter-unit sports weekend at HMS Caledonia, along with teams from @URNUGlasgow and @URNUBelfast . Although we didn't take the top spot, the fantastic weather and great company made for an unforgettable experience!
It's been a busy first few months of the year for @EdinburghURNU! The Officer Cadets have been engaging in a wide variety of activities: https://t.co/wwqWFyyKi9. The Unit’s Drill Nights in Edinburgh and #Dundee, connected via video link, are every Tuesday! 👏⏪👏

A potential URNU Officer Cadet in the future is raising funds for her Aberdeen unit and has asked us to share her story and go find me page. Good luck Helen.

40 URNU OCs from Belfast, @VirtualURNU@URNUGlasgow and @EdinburghURNU learned some basic fieldcraft & survival this weekend at Ballykinler. Fighting through some truly awful freezing rain to complete leadership exercises, they also participated in a NEO Ex with @HMS_Hibernia ⚓️
The final day of AT in the Cairngorms consisted of a morning walk through the National Park where OCs worked on their navigation skills. Followed by a high ropes course in the afternoon. And as a bonus, the hotel we were having dinner at were having a ceilidh. Great final night.
Second day of AT in the Cairngorms for URNU ES. Began the day with archery and finished with a zip lining course. 14 zip lines with the final one over 500m with a great view of the beautiful Cairngorm National Park. Thanks to all the staff for taking us through these activities.
First night of AT in the Cairngorms and curling was on the cards for URNU ES. We had a lesson on the basics before moving on to a mini tournament. It was lots of fun and something a bit different.
Great to see URNU East Scotland’s Lt MacIver recognised with this award on Tuesday night. Very well deserved for everything he has given the URNU over the past 20 years. BZs Lt MacIver!
So great to see 5 Reservists and 2 CFAVs receive Certificates of Meritorious Service from the Lord-Lieutenant for the City of Edinburgh on Tuesday night.
The awards event saw Reservists from @603Sqn, @CombatRecce and @EdinburghURNU praised for their outstanding service. 1/3

Students from @QUBelfast and @UlsterUni recently took part in the Royal Navy Winter Snowsports Association Festival in Les Deux Alpes, France. Six days skiing and boarding culminating in a slalom race - will you be with us next year? @RFCANI@VirtualURNU@EdinburghURNU
It was a pleasure to be hosted by @EdinburghURNU, where a couple of members of the ship's company hoped to inspire the next generation of sailors. There were some great questions, and plenty of interest in the variety of career paths available in the #RoyalNavy ⚓️ #nextgenfrigate
On Saturday, URNU ES came together to share a Burns Supper. There was some great poetry, speeches and a fantastic meal to celebrate the life and works of Rabbie Burns. The evening’s entertainment finished with some karaoke, thank you to all those involved, we had a great night!
2 OCs from URNU East Scotland attended the Snow Sports Festival with @RNWSA. They had a fantastic time and are looking forward to returning next year! Thank you to @RNWSA for a fantastic event.
The final URNU East #Scotland term of 2023 saw a #successful round of Officer Cadet recruits as well as leavers! Check out some of @EdinburghURNU's notable achievements and exciting plans: https://t.co/Qp8M2OY6NP. 👏⏪👏

URNU East Scotland hosted their final training night before Christmas on Tuesday. This involved mulled wine, secret Santa and charity bingo for @FreshStartWeb. We had a great time and raised £400 for Fresh Start. We would like to thank all the companies that sponsored prizes. (1)
OCs from URNU East Scotland took to the dry slopes in Edinburgh on Saturday night. OCs had a skiing lesson from staff and all had a great time. For some cadets this was in preparation for the RN ski championships in January which URNU ES are looking forward to attending.
