This shouldn’t be viewed as either / or. I think no new station is a big missed opportunity, but the Gold Line is the right decision no matter what. It will deliver faster, better, & more reliable east-west transit for DC residents every day of the year, not just on 8 Sundays.
It’s wild to see the entire perimeter road, which is hugely popular with cyclists and runners (not to mention local anglers, who drive to the southern end to fish), completely gone from what could be a new Hains Point.
New Record! @wmata Navy Yard 🚇 had 76K customers on Sat w/ Petalpalooza, @Nationals & @dcunited games, for the busiest ridership day EVER at that station even beating the Nats World Series run in 2019!
Plus we moved the @Capitals game & big zoo crowds. Metro moves our region!
This was a significant incident because it unveiled what some D.C. folks had complained about for years: Drivers will thousands of dollars in unpaid tickets still out there on the road. It also surfaced another issue: D.C. wasn't tracking DUI offenses from other jurisdictions.
🚨🎙️ | Ian Wright on Arsenal F.C.:
🗣️ “If Southampton can dominate you, and players look exhausted — like they don’t even realise they’re playing a quarter-final — then what standards are we talking about?
🗣️ This is April. Seven games left in the Premier League… and you can’t win a quarter-final at Southampton?
🗣️ These are the moments that show how ready you are to go and win the league — and right now, I’m disappointed.” 😤🔥
We unveiled the Loveful Hands sculpture at Eastern Market Metro Park today alongside DC native & artist Jay Coleman. Public parks deserve great public art! Thanks to our partners at @DCDPR@DCDGS@CapitolHillBID@BarracksRow@EasternMarketMS & more!
The DC Council just passed legislation to allow single-stair apartment buildings up to six stories.
Allowing single-stair buildings:
✅ Reduces housing construction costs
✅ Enables housing on narrow city lots
✅ Facilitates more family-sized units
The bill passed unanimously.
Did you know that one of the original concepts for the @wmata Metro rail cars was RED?! The idea came from London subways cars in the 60’s but they realized they were hard to keep clean and got dirty easily.
Green was also another option! #WMATA50
With 3 days left to ride #DCStreetcar, we’re reflecting on 10 years of service along the H Street NE Corridor and Benning Road. Thank you to our riders, local businesses, and community for being part of the journey. Service will end Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
It’s always a good day to take Metro, but today was special with the 50th anniversary swag being handed out as I got off my train! Happy 50th @wmata!!! Let’s keep working to guarantee 50 more!
