Lindsay Clancy was likely 1 juror away from walking free today. Let that sink in.
One difference… and she is out in the real world… free to marry again… free to HAVE KIDS AGAIN… and do the same thing to them all over again.
The one juror is a hero.
When I was first converting to Orthodoxy, there was a brief phase, due to my political baggage, where I denied the sanctity of St. Cyril of Alexandria. I objected to his militant behavior on the basis that it felt hypocritical to me for people to call him a Saint, while condemning other men who participate in militant movements or engage in riots, I even went so far as to claim that his canonization was "simply political."
This was during the first few months, the first year, of me wrestling with Orthodoxy. Eventually I grew to understand that Saints are Saints not only because of what they do, but in spite of what they do, and that St. Cyril is one of the greatest doctors of the Church. I have since repented of my slander.
I share this anecdote to communicate one point: it is to be expected that fresh converts have baggage and slip into heterodox ways of thinking, we are babies in need of milk and we might spit out good food if given prematurely. What cannot be excused is long term obstinance.
If you live your life as an Orthodox Christian, from baptism to the grave, denying the sanctity of our Saints, denying the confessions and synods received by all of our canonical churches, then you are risking your salvation. One cannot slander the friends of God by denying their sanctity, or by accusing them of being false teachers, without repentance, and enter the kingdom of Heaven.
A Western Rite Orthodox wedding & nuptial High Mass, concelebrated between AWRV clergy and our brother Heiromonk James of Botel Abbey (Scotland): A 🧵
Please pray for our beloved brother, Fr. Michael Henningham of St. Stephen's Antiochian Church, who unexpectedly fell asleep in the faith yesterday.
Memory eternal!
May light perpetual shine upon him!
Requiescat in pace!
@AngloVarangian Married, then my wife and I inquired and converted to Orthodoxy. We have 2 daughters. I am going to try to be a better Orthodox brother on this issue and pray more for you and others going through this struggle. More of us should be putting Galatians 6:2 into practice
Ukrainian Orthodox Monastery (UOC) seized by Ukraine government.
This occurred May 11th at St. Michael's Monastery in Pereyaslav. Police drag Orthodox Christians from the door of the sanctuary, including Abbot Archimandrite Antoniy, to turn it into a museum. Christ have mercy.
No liturgical scholar, including those of Eastern Orthodox faith, believe that the Rite of Pope St. Gregory was "lost" with the schism, not even with the reforms of Trent. Those who attack the Western Rite on the basis of a "lost tradition" have evidently no knowledge of the mass' history.
“We have Western Rite brothers and sisters who are converted to Orthodoxy… We need to accept all this diversity in our archdiocese and do our best to help each other to be Orthodox in essence, not in culture. We need to modify our culture to be Orthodox more and more.”

I wonder if the NHL is aware that the playoffs start in just more than 48 hours. Very unfair to people who are traveling from out of town to see games, or for people who are trying to organize their lives around when puck drop is. Not fair to the teams either, for that matter.
