@brendan_cubs Yup. 90 win seasons are rare. Since 1900, the cubs have only won 90+ 26 times. That’s 1 in 5 seasons. Can’t take them for granted. Whether or not you have a bye it’s still a playoff year. You push the chips in now, especially considering there may be no games next year.

All bullpen arms are risks. They’re highly volatile and you never know what you’re going to get from them. Anytime the Cubs sign a reliever for more than a year it blows up on them (eg Maton). It’s not worth the spend with that much help on the way. The bigger need is starting pitching, by a lot.

@HotStoveCubbies Gray makes a ton of sense. He’s pitched well, is on an expiring contract and thus wouldn’t cost a lot.
Skubal would make you blow your system up. Hartshorn or Conrad. Plus he’s a free agent.
