Nigeria's problem is multi faced. It's a combination of political, traditional and religious(regardless of nomenclature ) conspiracy. These three institutions units to rip off unsuspecting Nigerian. The earlier we learn, the quicker we're out of the mess.
A 22yr old today was 12 yrs old in 2016.
How do I explain to that young Person that as at 2015. Flight ticket to Abuja was N12,000. A nice hotel room cost N6,500. US visa application was N48k. Flight ticket to Dubai was N80k & A bottle of coke cost N40.
Where do I Start? 🥺🤧
I’m officially starting the #SanerClimeWatch, to counter the white worshippers’ narrative that something is inherently wrong with the African society/culture.
These our white worshipping brothers must receive sense by force.
Watch for a daily dose of it.
El-Rufai's first public appearance at Kaduna High Court today.
Unbelievable the length Tinubu is going to ruin him to the ground.
Barely 3 years ago, he was representing Tinubu at Chatham and dancing together in London. 😭😂
One day, this shall be Wike and Umahi.
Hello @PoliceNG, how much did you people collect from this man that rape a child before releasing him back to the society?? Have you people legalise rape now??
The day I fell in love with this man is the day he debated Osibanjo in 2019.
The day I signed up to be his loyal believer was the day he began the "go and verify" slogan and till tomorrow no one has been able to prove him corrupt.
Peter Obi is coming
They didn’t build railways to connect our communities.
They built them from the mines straight to the ports—to transport our wealth out.
Colonialism was never a "civilizing mission." It was a corporate extraction scheme.
Know the difference. 🌍✊🏿
Why do we condemn Igbo traditions and label them evil, yet promote Jewish traditions as holy and acceptable?
Why is what our ancestors practised called paganism, while similar traditions from another culture are treated as sacred?
Is a tradition evil because of its origin, or should we judge every tradition by its actual practices?
Africans, it is time to question what we were taught and think for ourselves.
the man in this picture? His name is Prof Onuoha.
Reports indicate that he is Wike’s cousin, political ally, and former Special Adviser on Lands. President Tinubu later appointed him as an INEC Commissioner, clearly on the basis of personal and political connections.
In 2024, he was deployed to oversee the Edo State governorship election, where he announced the APC as the winner.
Now look at the kind of people who will be involved in conducting our elections. Do you now understand why Wike boasts so arrogantly about Tinubu’s victory in 2027?”
There's this 19th-century eurocentric colonial view known as "The White Man's Burden".
The belief was that white people had a moral duty to colonize, manage, and "civilize" non-white people.
Still around today. Only it has been rebranded bringing you "Freedom and Democracy".
🚨 Never let them rewrite our history.
Under King George VI and British Governors like Lord Lugard and Sir Edward Grigg, failing to meet forced labor and mineral quotas in Nigeria & Kenya meant brutal flogging (kiboko/Koboko), land seizure, burning whole villages, and prison chain gangs.
And when Nigerian miners protested at Iva Valley in 1949 under Governor Sir John Macpherson, British police shot 21 dead.
That wasn't "civilization"—it was terror and plunder. ✊🏿
In South Africa, a wealthy and influential man is sometimes called a grootman.
But what happens when wealth commands admiration regardless of how it was acquired?
The curious rise of the grootman—and what it reveals about South African society.
Read in The Republic:
Prostitution has been rebranded as a lifestyle, packaged as empowerment, and glamorized as luxury. Young women are now bragging about what previous generations were ashamed of.
🇷🇺🇮🇷🇺🇸 Putin outsmarted Trump & supercharged Iran's chokehold on global fuel prices.
Russia artificially lowered diesel exports for months, waited for a temporary sanctions restriction, and is now selling diesel at record premiums.
It won't bring prices down for Trump, but it will cause major contradictions for Europe & Ukraine — who were previously interdicting Russian oil tankers & blowing up Moscow's oil refineries.

17.9 Million Nigerians Fall Into Multidimensional Poverty In Three Years, The World’s Largest Increase — UN Report
Nigeria recorded the world’s largest increase in multidimensional poverty, with 17.9 million additional people falling into poverty between 2021 and 2024, according to the 2026 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index.
The report, published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, showed a reversal of Nigeria’s progress in poverty reduction between 2018 and 2021.
Nigeria recorded a higher increase than Afghanistan, where 5.3 million additional people became multidimensionally poor during its latest assessment period.
“In absolute terms, the largest increase in the number of poor people is seen in Nigeria… 17.9 million people became multidimensionally poor,” the report stated.
The index measures deprivation beyond income, including access to healthcare, education, electricity, clean water, sanitation, adequate housing and nutrition.
According to the report’s harmonised comparison, Nigeria’s multidimensional poverty rate rose from 33 per cent in 2021 to 38.7 per cent in 2024, while the number of affected people increased from 72.21 million to 90.07 million.
A separate 2024 national estimate put the number of multidimensionally poor Nigerians at 113.32 million, representing 48.7 per cent of the population. The figure uses a different estimation method and is not directly comparable with the historical comparison.
The report identified Kebbi, Yobe and Sokoto among the states with the highest poverty burdens, while Lagos recorded the lowest Multidimensional Poverty Index value.
Globally, 1.2 billion people were living in acute multidimensional poverty, including 617 million children under 18.
The findings highlight Nigeria’s challenge in achieving the United Nations’ goal of reducing poverty in all its forms by at least half by 2030.
