Great news coming out of New York! Pet stores that sell puppies often source from puppy mills that raise dogs in terrible conditions and have predatory financing schemes. Let's make MN the next state to do this in 2023! #mnleg
Pet stores in New York State will soon be prohibited from selling dogs, cats and rabbits. The ban, which takes effect in December 2024, is meant to prevent the sale of animals raised by commercial breeders accused of keeping them in inhumane conditions. https://t.co/c5mQnqJGpp
HF 4065 passes both the House and Senate, including provisions to extend the transitional housing program to keep people from re-entering homelessness, codifies funding from last session for youth shelter improvement grants, and extends the Task Force on shelter until Dec. #mnleg
To do this important work, we need an HHS budget bill that treats homelessness like the crisis it is, and funds our response. Now is the time for bold action with this surplus! I hope that we have a special session to address these urgent needs #mnleg
The MN HFA reported that of individuals experiencing homelessness, 80% experience it incidentally, 10% episodically (cycling in and out of housing), and 10% experience chronic homelessness. We must invest in #Bonds4Housing to ensure affordable housing for all. #mnleg
The lack of affordable housing is made worse by past and current policies excluding access to people because of race and class,as well as by current policies to criminalize the tragedy of people living without a home. We must seek housing justice for ALL #mnleg#affordablehousing
Each night there are 20,000 people who don't have a place to lay their heads. This is unacceptable, especially when MN is in the strongest financial position in its history. Now's the time to prioritize housing! #mnleg#Bonds4Housing#Housing4All
Emergency rental assistance is critical to maintaining housing stability and preventing homelessness. #mnleg should support funding for emergency rental assistance NOW! #affordablehousing#Homes4All#mnleg
We asked members of Street Voices of Change (group w/ lived experiences of homelessness) to share why work on housing and homelessness issues is important and what they want people to know... here is what we heard #mnleg#Homes4AllMN 🧵@jeremyrmiller@MelissaHortman
Tonight, 20,000 people don't have a place a permanent home in MN. MN is in the strongest financial position in its history. It's time to make the investments needed so children, youth, adults and seniors have safe & dignified shelter and homes. #mnleg#homes4allmn@MNHomelessCo
Minnesotans all across the state need affordable housing. As we near the end of the #mnleg session, please ask you legislators where they stand on affordable housing and tenant protections. #Homes4AllMN
Housing is a social justice issue. The 2018 Wilder survey found that BIPOC & LGBTQ youth are especially overrepresented in MN's homeless population. We need #Bonds4Housing so ALL Minnesotans have access to affordable housing. #Homes4AllMN#mnleg@jeremyrmiller@SusanKentMN
