My time as a product manager has come to an end. I now work afternoons in a woodshop and spend mornings watching YouTube videos with titles like "Is the Sun Conscious?"
@owenbroadcast Fascinating. I've always felt like I could recognize a bahai building, but I've only seen US examples. Not sure I would have identified all these (despite them all being round)
@simonsarris Fantastic that you named these after Falstaff—Henry IV Part 1 might be my favorite Shakespeare.
If you get time, since the account you tag in the recipe description no longer exists, could you explain why?
One of my favorite passages from George Saunders' Lincoln in the Bardo. The ghost of Willie Lincoln convinces Hans Vollman, a naked ghost with a large "member," and Roger Bevins III, a gay ghost with an aesthete's sensibility, to stop denying that they're all three dead.
@Empty_America While growing up with an LDS household's worth of siblings, I remember my parents' house looking like this 80% the time. That was good, right, and natural, or at least totally fine
@jkimballcook Yeah, just finished the Isaacson Franklin biography
Jefferson replaced Franklin in France, jealously asked how he could get the kind of female attention demonstrated at Franklin's farewell celebration, and got the reply, "you're not old enough"
@PaulSkallas Utah-owned "dirty soda" and cookie shops are already opening franchises in other states to capitalize on this trend. Started with Crumbl in CA (relatively high LDS population), but now my Bentonville friends report dirty soda shops have hit the deep south
@springpard Favorites from my lit MA:
Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, A Mercy by Toni Morrison, LaRose by Louise Erdrich, The Underground Railroad by Coleson Whitehead, Such Color by Tracy K. Smith if you want some poetry. All highly literate and well-crafted.
@tikalteacall My distant cousin got a degree in organ performance and now plays a giant wooden recorder in a band like this, at various conventions, in period garb. Stuff like this rules
I have:
-A month-to-month apt lease
-Few belongings
-Plenty of savings, no financial obligations or debt
-A car
-No dependents or partner
-A fresh master's degree
-A healthy body and mind
All of my choices up to this point selected for freedom, and it worked. What should I do?
