@zyonuk The most remarkable thing about the backlash is that it shows how some people are prepared to treat head injuries as irrelevant because they are so desperate to be offended by criticism of their team.
I’m going to stand by this, regardless of the howls of orange outrage.
Impacts to the head cause permanent damage and ruin lives. That is beyond dispute.
There is no sitting on the fence here. Even running the risk of causing a concussion is unacceptable.
I didn’t watch the Steelers match, but I’ve seen some clips and read some comments.
Some of y’all need to accept that it isn’t the 1970s any more.
It is no longer OK to concuss someone, maybe permanently injure them, for the chance of maybe getting a point in a game.
I am explicitly against anything that risks head injuries. And I take the piss out of Steelers.
So they invent the implication that I am OK with Steelers players being injured.
And they wonder why I make jokes about them being thick as pigshit.
@tanyareid107 I make a comment explicitly against risk of head injuries, and because I reference Steelers fans objections to my stance you project an interpretation on it that implies I don’t mind if Steelers players are put at risk.
And Steelers fans wonder why the piss is taken out of them.
We are all supporters of a game.
It is not reasonable that we should expect young people to risk permanent brain damage, or permanent injury of any kind, for our entertainment.

@steelthepuck We all know you’ve seen the same clips, and we all know that there are many voices to support the claim that it was a clean hit.
But the science is indisputable, and the rules are clear: hits to the head are dangerous and frequently inflict permanent damage.
@Jackowl25@DarthSteelios “Constantly act surprised?”
You aren’t paying attention, my man.
I *LOVE* it when Steelers fans react. It’s the reason why I make the posts.
I even explicitly stated that the clever Steelers fans don’t react - and I *LOVE* the fact that you read that and you still react.
@steelthepuck Whether intentional or not, what you are doing is implying that a move that creates a risk of concussion is ok if it doesn’t *actually* concuss anyone.
And if you stand by that, then you are missing the point - dangerously.
Prevention of injuries is achieved by removing risk.
@Jackowl25@DarthSteelios It’s nice to be appreciated.
I’ve tried taking the piss out of every team in the league, and not one of them has given me any material or traction.
…except for the Steelers.
They’re the most entertainingly fragile fans in any sport. I absolutely adore them.
@Jackowl25@DarthSteelios You’re an inspiration.
I can ignore Steelers for months at a time and you still believe I think about them every day.
I once owned a spaniel, and I now own two retrievers, and they all have less faith than you.
