Just had a dreadful thought. What if we'd had a Labour government at Westminster under Corbyn AND a Labour Council in Croydon under Newman and Hamida Ali?
Croydon Council is bankrupt — the council that @SadiqKhan called his hidden gem.
And whether it’s TfL or Croydon going bust, it’s the same story. @SadiqKhan mismanages money and leaves Londoners with the bill.
Don’t you think we deserve better?

@DonnaMurrayTur1@JamieAudsley Job losses (about 440 from the council), higher council tax, increased parking charges, reduced services like bin collections etc.
@ArfurZTowcrate @CroydonTories .......... and you haven’t noticed there is a pandemic? Do you see growth in any of the EU countries? Let your criticism be justified else, no one will take you seriously.
Good to see @BBCLondonNews are reporting on the mess @CroydonLabour have made of Croydon. One of London's largest Councils has been destroyed by their mismanagement and it needs proper coverage. @CroydonTories warned them for years and they did nothing.

@MayorofLondon Same BAME TFL workers & bus drivers you refused to buy PPE for, whose knife crime statistics you refused to act on, those your ULEZ scheme affected their jobs, those your congestion charge kept out of church? Get real Sadiq! Your divisive strategy doesn’t work. Time to move on!
Come and meet your MP Chris Philp, local Purley councillor and colleagues TOMORROW Saturday 24/10 1030-1200 near Lorimers passage, 936 Brighton Rd Purley CR8 2LP. Please observe Social Distancing. @PurleyCllrs@CroydonTories@CPhilpOfficial
That was a definitive response from Chris Philp. Over to you Sadiq! Time to stop playing politics with Londoners. London NEEDS responsible leadership and that is NOT Sadiq Khan!
@lisanandy ........isn’t it interesting that you are calling an activity a shambles based on what you suspect? Something you can’t provide details on because you were not there?! Advice: stick with what you know.
At tonight's Croydon Council meeting we heard from @CroydonTories councillors that the Council doesn't listen to residents, especially those who oppose new housing in their area.
Latest evidence shows that 65% of Londoners support new homes in their area.

Labour’s leader of Croydon Council has just resigned - given our discovery last week that the Council invested £80m under his watch in breach of financial regulations, this is unquestionably the right decision #CroydonLive
