🥇 | @davidlynchlfc speaking to @AnfieldIndex on Nunez: “So you sign him on a free for this summer and then the first week of the season when you have a Champions League/Premier League game, Isak can’t play both of those, so Nunez has to start it. Is everybody happy with that because he will miss chances and Liverpool will lose games because of it. I can’t see why people would be pleased with that. I find it crazy.”
I just remember during the Jan part of 20/21 of reports saying if we had made the UCL semis or final, we’d rush him to play, and the Euros had me worried too, which I’m also glad he didn’t take part in even if he was a big miss to them
It’s been 5 years (quite crazy lol), but honestly so glad there was no rush to his recovery from the Everton injury and it’s evident.
That injury I feel like matured him quicker that ironically prolonged his career, but his fitness since then has been perfect which is nuts.
Since June 2025, Virgil van Dijk has played 5,841 minutes for club and country, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues, missing just 279 minutes in the process (90 for the Netherlands, 189 for Liverpool).
@Gbemiga__A Haven’t read up on it recently but I’m pretty sure the drugs he took turned out to be legal so shouldn’t have been banned. Ruined his career of some sort. Should’ve been called up for the euros. Was a big miss, but Toure was probably one of our best players that final lol
Just cos of how strong his clutch gene is, I’ll always be convinced we win the 2016 Europa if he was fit even though it was a defensive mishap that cost us. A bonus of the 2018 UCL if we didn’t loan him out too💀
Always struck a ball quite satisfyingly. His goal vs Everton 16/17 comes to mind too just letting the pass roll and running with the ball to then strike it.
His goal catalogue is acc nuts too when reminiscing his goals. His brace vs Arsenal 21/22 carabao😮💨
A lotta Jones’ good work never gets a mention but as soon as he shows a flaw, ppl are very quick to jump on him. Never sat right with me.
I don’t mean just from a stat sheet, but do think ppl lie a lot on how he plays simply cos they have an immovable opinion on him
I always say our fans see highlights of other players, not any lowlights but see all the lows of our players then judge that against other players. On a bad season for midfield Scott doesn’t get close to them. I am all for upgrading our mids but it’s not Alex Scott
Our fans hating on Jude is some of the most forced shit ever.
There seems to be this idea that we bidded for him, had everything sorted with him, and he chose Madrid last second, when in reality, it was just Madrid that went for him and he joined them😭
Best example of taking ur opportunity and making ur mark.
None of this needs to play a certain way or system to thrive, just do ur thing on the pitch.
Feels like nowadays we lack it and in general in football.
Divock Origi has announced his retirement from professional football.
90 + 6 against Everton, the Barcelona comeback and of course, that goal in Madrid, he’s a true Liverpool great.
Thank you, Divock 🐐 All the best in your retirement.
My purpose in the game is fulfilled ⭐️
I lived out my childhood dreams, played on the biggest stages, won the biggest trophies. Grateful to God for all of it.
To all my fans, the clubs, my teammates and my family: this will forever be ours. Thank you.
The mission is complete. Now I step into my next calling.
More of the journey to come.
Love,
Divock Origi
Are we forgetting that we’d go into every game 1-0 down😂
We didn’t keep a league clean sheet at Anfield in 2024 until the final game, and we played the relegated 3 in that time too💀
Defence/set up cost us the league. We were running on Klopp farewell fumes
@mohiner_ghora Exactly. It’s been a terrible season for Ibou both on and off the pitch. The way ppl lack empathy and speak as “fans” of the club before being a human is a pretty sad way to live your life.
Why are ppl mad over this?
We talk about the mental implications Jotas passing had to the squad and the club. He lost his own father, and his performances were probably affected by them.
Just feels like he needs a new start to reset.
Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate says deaths of Diogo Jota and his father led him to 'lose all interest in everything', suffering from depression as his form collapsed and his contract ended https://t.co/1NzI80l9vh
Not to mention our fans would probably call him out a lot on his performances. Now it’s a shock that he’s not signing with us. Such an entitled fanbase lol
Sounds good. Hopefully not too gung ho and does need to realise teams will play us with intentions to frustrate and not allow us to attack, unlike maybe when he was at Bournemouth. However, he translates that to us and that’s a part of the identity I will back.
[🚨] NEW: A senior member of staff at Bournemouth says: “Andoni’s idea is to win every game – and that gives you a real platform and identity. The way he uses substitutions… very rarely has he not brought on almost every attacker at his disposal with enough time to affect a game. He wants freshness to keep the rhythm and tempo the same as when the match started. If he has players to bring on and keep the level high, it is the perfect scenario for him – you can never say he’s not trying to win every game. Andoni’s style lends itself to entertainment.”

My expectation for Slot when he first joined was 80+ points. Reason why it’s lower with Iraola is cos Iraola is taking over a team that finished on 60 points. Slot took over a team that finished on 82. Needs to be a standard but with some realism.
What’s everyone’s genuine and fair expectations for Iraola next season? Like what would you consider a good first year and what would be considered an absolute failure for you?
