CU Schools Foundation Mission: To invest in an equitable and empowered future for Champaign Urbana by strengthening the communities commitment to our public schools and teachers, and students.
Ready to make a difference!
Just picked up my election packet and can’t wait to start collecting petition signatures tomorrow.
Together, we can create a brighter future for our community!

I’m excited to announce our first round of endorsements!
It’s an honor to have been endorsed by 5 of the 7 sitting Urbana City Council members: Chris Evans (Ward 2), Jaya Kolisetty (Ward 4), Chaundra Bishop (Ward 5), Grace Wilken (Ward 6), and James Quisenberry (Ward 7).
The killing of Sonya Massey by a Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy is a tragic reminder of how far we have yet to go in our pursuit of public safety. Yet another black life has been taken by a police officer. How many more lives will be lost before we make a change?

I appreciate The News-Gazette for its continued coverage of my campaign. We will continue to campaign to ensure we earn the trust and support of all Urbana residents. I look forward to serving our community alongside Mr. Quisenberry.
On second thought, James Quisenberry will not enter the 2025 race for @cityofurbana mayor, leaving @ElectDeShawn as the only candidate currently campaigning for the office being vacated by @dwmarlin next year. https://t.co/P2ozTjvNWT
Due to the weather, we weren’t able to walk in the parade today. But because of the cancellation, I was able to have a quick Q&A session with our wonderful youth. I realized today that this campaign is a road map to the success of our youth.

Today Tracy and I got a chance to help paint the Market Mural with my guy @camraab.art
Awesome job Vivian and the @urbanaartsandculture team for making this happen!
Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak at @clarklindsey_ and share my story and reflect on the history of Juneteenth and what it means to our community. I truly enjoyed interacting with the residents as they shared some of their history with me!

We had a fun-filled family day as we continued to celebrate Juneteenth weekend!
We left Douglass Park to go and celebrate the 150th Birthday of the Urbana Free Library!
We love our community!

Today I was able to attend the Juneteenth 2024: Reflection and Remembrance Celebration, held by the city of Urbana!
Awesome job to all of the speakers and everyone who had a hand in making this happen.

I am deeply honored to accept the RHOck of the Family award, alongside these amazing community leaders and father figures who demonstrate by their actions what it means to be the RHOck of a Family.
Thank you to Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Delta Omega Sigma Alumnae Chapter!
Gun violence is prevalent in so many cities - large and small - and has been at the hands of our youth.
As the next mayor of Urbana, I will work with local organizations to engage our youth and focus on addressing the root causes of poverty.
To say that I was surprised would be an understatement.
I would like to thank the Illinois Democratic County Chairs Association @ildcca for this amazing recognition. It was an honor serving as Chair of the Champaign County Democratic Party.
It has been an honor serving as the Heart of Champaign-Urbana, Executive Leadership Chair, for the American Heart Association. Today we celebrated with the “Building a Community of Lifesavers” luncheon. We heard so many inspiring stories from cardiovascular disease survivors
