If CA mandated Voter ID, they could cut wait times and the number of provisional ballots they issue by 25- 50 %. That would improve throughput on Election Day, and reduce need for manual adjudication of provisional ballots, leading to quicker reporting of official results.

I’m one of the people who was working elections during the hurricanes. Votes are counted faster because of shorter/less complex ballots, requirement to transmit polling place results electronically by 7:30 pm, and we have strict voter ID. Also 13.3 million voters, not 24 million.
@ElectionBabe Lol If Florida with 24 million people can count the votes in ONE DAY, after a hurricane plowed through the state, California can count votes for Governor in one day.
Looks like a sub-15 minute wait at any voting center in L.A. right now.

We should see results roll in faster than we did in the 2022 Mayoral election. LA County Registrar settled into a new ballot processing center in 2024 & that helped speed things up a bit last two elections. Also benefit of time to adjust to shift to vote centers & expanded VBM.
JUST IN 7-term former Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell drops some knowledge on judge overseeing battle between County Board & current recorder: Folo Scotus' "Purcell Principle" & hold off on changes to way elections are run so close to an election. https://t.co/U6SDqO15XT
I come down harder on CA than just about anyone. But I don’t have a ton of patience for pollsters complaining about how long results take. It’s not a simple process in CA, particularly during a consolidated Top 2 primary election with new Congressional maps.
I’d help y’all with your CA election questions, but I’m banned and can’t reply on public TL. If you need my advice, you have to DM. I can’t reply to you otherwise.
My latest:
"Months of an electorate subjected to unsolicited visual, audio and postal assault with demands to care about the 2026 primary election. The latest most important election there ever was going to be...Only 21% of voters showed up to do so" https://t.co/EeN5HQFyrz
Great reminders and key information on voting options (HINT: there are plenty). It’s go time, Los Angeles County. Get out and vote. Thanks @ABC7 for the coverage and information - https://t.co/NO6yEIZF4e

Did you know? Poll workers are paid for each election they work. By becoming a poll worker, you can help ensure secure, fair and accessible elections in Sarasota County—and get paid doing it. Learn more about becoming a poll worker at https://t.co/AzJ87uwaeG
This entire situation in Fort Bend County confuses me. Was every single electronic pollbook in the county not working? Was the state/county voter registration database down? If answer to both is No, was there an eligibility hotline available for pollworkers to call?
“County leaders continue insisting the issue did not impact election integrity, vote tabulation or ballot totals. But one first-time voter who spoke with KHOU 11 says he still left without casting a ballot.”

Today, OC ROV Bob Page was joined by @EACgov Commission Vice Chair Christy McCormick, Orange County First District Supervisor @SenJanetNguyen and OC District Attorney @OCDAToddSpitzerfor an on-site media tour of our ballot processing operations.
Alabama’s new law requires local election officials to conduct post-election tabulation audits beginning with this year’s general election and continuing in future general elections. That moves the state beyond its limited 2022 pilot and begins to make auditing a regular part of the election process.
