@FleetzeroHQ just received class approval for our Leviathan system.
Leviathan is the hardware foundation for autonomous ships.
@AnthropicAI Claude code can make a BOAT autonomous in a week but…
autonomous SHIPS require new hardware.

@johnkonrad Korean yards are facing hard times with a shrinking order book due to Chinese subsidized under bidding.
Hoping to replace volume with margin in Jones act vessels maybe?
It takes years when there is capacity in most states.
It’s taken years for years.
Even when grid demand was flat or at 1% growth.
The patchwork of state rules combined with Clean Air and Clean Water Act abuses in the courts delay new capacity now and delayed clean capacity when demand was flat.
A new federal minimum standard of service should be set, after which state rules are superseded.
Congress has constitutional authority under interstate commerce clause.
My advocacy is about getting state out of way not making capacity magically appear.
Though capacity will magically appear and rates will lower if we do that.
Good article in WSJ by Seth Jones.
I love our country and bristle when people criticize our military.
But we need to admit our military is optimized around past conflicts if we are to avoid costly battlefield lessons to come.

@bscholl I hope these legacy players are made irrelevant by a flood of founder-led American innovation over the next few years. For the good of the country.
US defense giants Lockheed and Raytheon are reportedly resistant to licensing Patriot missile production to Ukraine because they fear that Ukrainian manufacturers will be able to “improve the Patriot and then produce them at scale faster and for much less money.” -The Atlantic
@Rainmaker1973 Such innovation. Who could have imagined ships powered by wind?
Don’t see many repeat customers with these projects as cool as they might look.
People abandon wind for coal as soon as they could get it. Despite the wind being free.

Three key waterways are now disrupted by conflict.
Dardanelles (Turkey/Med), Bab Al Mandeb (Red Sea), and Strait of Hormuz
World is starting to remember the forgotten industry of seafaring

I hope YC continues to develop solid content for hardware and hard tech companies.
I would never trade our YC experience, but I hope future YC founders get more focused advice on building big expensive hard things with atoms.
YC is the only hands-down, no brained force for good in VC.
Profitability is an admission by a company that they have no place to invest that is better than giving the money back to shareholders. You can generate profits or assets for the future. Current situation around data center investments is the same controversy around building assets for the future or keeping cash on hand. OK for shortsighted quarterly Wall Street but not for companies planning great growth 5-10 years out. Higher risk than keeping cash on hand, but substantially more upside. Pick what you want.
