In their pursuit of gender equality, women have employed various forms of resistance against oppression and domination, influenced by the differing political, social, and economic systems that govern nations. Generally, women in northern countries primarily resist patriarchy, while women in the southern, developing nations confront not only patriarchy but also colonialism. Eritrea witnessed the emergence of its national liberation movement in the early post-World War II era. What made the Eritrean liberation movement unique was its reliance solely on its own human and material resources, unlike other liberation movements that received support from global powers. Additionally, Eritrea has made significant strides in enhancing women's representation in leadership roles, particularly within the judiciary. Currently, women hold 22% of high court judgeships, 36% of public prosecutor positions, and 37% of elected community court judgeships. Furthermore, women's representation in regional assemblies has been consistently maintained at 29%, with 37% of local administrators being women. #DiscoverEritrea2025

Special High-Level Event on Climate Action

Eritrea like many nations on the frontlines, has been experiencing severe and escalating impacts of climate change. Increasing temperatures and erratic precipitation are driving disasters that undermine our economy and threaten the livelihoods of our people.

In the face of these challenges, the State of Eritrea is fully committed to a path of climate resilience and low-carbon development. As a testimony of this, we have prepared our ambitious third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which will be submitted prior to COP30.

In this regard our message today is focused on three pillars: ambition, clarity and partnership.

First, on ambition: Eritrea is putting forward a robust conditional target which represents its highest possible ambition. With our internal resources, we commit to an 8.6% reduction below business-as-usual. If international support is secured, Eritrea can do much more in achieving a 24.4% reduction by 2030. This will actually bend our emissions curve downward, bringing them below our 2018 levels.

Second, on clarity: We have a clear, investment-ready pipeline to get there. Our strategy is focused on two transformative pillars: a clean energy transformation and large-scale, nature-based solutions.

And third, on partnership: Achieving this highest ambition requires partnership. The total investment needed is approximately 1.3 billion USD. While we are investing significantly ourselves, we call on our development partners to support 63.4% of this total. This is not merely a request; it is an invitation to invest in high-impact projects that will deliver measurable results for the climate and for the most vulnerable.

Eritrea is ready to do its part within its internal capacity to deter the effects of Climate change in particular and environmental degradation at large. The Government of the state of Eritrea remains politically committed in mobilizing its financial and human resource. Having said that, we call upon the international community and specially most polluter countries to live up to their historical responsibility in doing what is required from them, by taking the lead in addressing ground breaking measures domestically and sharing the knowledge, skill and technology they acquired and mobilizing adequate financial resource that are reliable and accessible to who needs and when they need it most. The high-level meeting, held on the margins of the 80th Session of the @UN general Assembly in New York, reflects a mutual interest in exploring opportunities for partnership. Both sides emphasized the importance of constructive engagement, dialogue, and collaboration on regional stability, security, and economic development.

FM Osman Saleh met yesterday - on the sidelines of UNGA80 - Ms Annette Weber, EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa; and Ms. Maria Malmer Stenergard, Swedish Foreign Minister respectively.

Issues discussed with the EU Special Representative focused on vital matters of peace and security in the Red Sea and Horn of Africa region as well as Eritrea-EU cooperation. Ms. Annette appreciated Eritrea's critical role in the region, particularly in maintaining the maritime safety and security of the Red Sea. Both sides stressed the imperative of respecting the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of all States. The two sides agreed to continue engaging further and to coordinate positions on key regional and bilateral matters.

The meeting with the Swedish Foreign Minister centered on approaches for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation. The two sides also exchanged views on the peace and security situation in the Horn of Africa region.

The Mufti underlined in his sermon that Eritrea's harmonious national cohesion, secured through the sacrifice of its Martyrs, is the highest treasure bestowed by Providence and that remains rooted in the family. The Ministry of Agriculture convened a National Conference on Eritrea's Fauna and Flora at the NCEW Head Quarters yesterday.

Key stakeholders that participated at the event held under the theme: "Conservation of Eritrea's Fauna and Flora Safeguards our Future" included: the Ministry of Land, Water and Environment; the Ministry of Marine Resources; the Forest and Wildlife Authority; and, the National Higher Education and Research Institute.

Thematic papers submitted at the Conference:
* Objectives and processes of registration and documentation of Eritrea's fauna and flora;
* Nature of the country's terrestrial and aquatic fauna and flora;
* Structure and functionality of the database collected (which will serve as a vital input for the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2026-2030)

PP (aka Potemkin Party) political and military officials are in an overdrive mode these days; enveloped as they are in inordinate fanfares to "normalize" their delusional and reckless pursuit of "securing sovereign access to the sea".

They are even harking back to the dark chapter in the modern history of both countries to allude to, and lionize, the annexation period; unlawful and abominable as this is.

As underlined on various occasions before, this is of course a political blasphemy of the highest order; a red line that should not be contemplated or crossed.

PP is dangling this toxic, adventurist, agenda of war and conflict while presiding over an economy that requires intermittent financial injections from the IMF, the WB, and other assorted multilateral and bilateral "donors". The multiple internal wars that are raging in Ethiopia to exact avoidable losses of precious lives and the destruction of property is another quagmire that warrants judicious resolution for the sake and welfare of the Ethiopian people.

And yet, PP officials and their minions seem to indulge in extensive and elaborate gaslighting - hosting Summits on Climate Change; Afro-Caribbean Cooperation etc. - to deceive and hoodwink their domestic and international constituencies rather than seeking enduring solutions to their domestic woes and contributing to a regional climate of stability and cooperation on the basis of legality and common sense.

Stemmen som endrer liv: Lærdommen fra Instruks GI-13/2018
I 2019 ble Jøran Kallmyr fra Fremskrittspartiet (FrP) utnevnt til justis- og innvandringsminister i Solberg II-regjeringen. Han kom fra Fræna i Møre og Romsdal og satt i regjeringen fra mars 2019 til januar 2020.
I denne perioden innførte han Instruks GI-13/2018, som endret praktiseringen av utlendingsloven § 28 første ledd bokstav b. Dette førte til at 150 eritreiske saker ble gransket. Instruksen skapte stor uro og rammet hele det eritreiske miljøet i Norge. Den har etterlatt dype sår i mange familier og enkeltpersoner i det norsk-eritreiske miljøet – en uro som har revet i hjertene deres, og kastet dem inn i en tilstand av sorg, frykt og fortvilelse.

Hvordan kunne dette skje? Fordi FrP fikk 27 mandater i stortingsvalget i 2017 (15,2 %), og dermed makt over Justisdepartementet. Da Fremskrittspartiet (FrP) forlot regjeringen i januar 2020, mistet instruksen sin praktiske virkning – selv om UDI fortsatte å bruke den helt frem til 2023. I valget i 2021 sank FrP til 21 mandater (11,6 %), men i dag – i 2025 – viser meningsmålingene at partiet kan vokse igjen til 21–24 %.
👉 Historien kan gjenta seg.
Dette er en påminnelse om hvor mye din stemme teller. På landsbasis utgjør ca. 18 000 stemmer ett mandat. I små fylker kan så lite som 2000 stemmer avgjøre hvem som får et ekstra sete på Stortinget.
🗳️ Eritreere i Norge: La oss huske hva vi lærte av instruksen GI-13/2018. Politikernes beslutninger påvirker oss direkte.
I 2025 må vi bruke vår stemmerett for å beskytte vårt samfunn og sikre at vi blir hørt.

He’s using “sea access” to distract from civil wars in Amhara, Oromia, and Tigray, plus his collapsing economy.

🔹 📚 Basic Economics:
Trade isn’t about owning everything — it’s about comparative advantage, cooperation, and respecting your neighbors' borders.
🔹 **🇨🇭 Even Switzerland — landlocked and wealthy — proves sea access is not a guarantee for prosperity.

🌊 Eritrea’s Clear Stand on Ports & Peace:
✅ Access? Yes — Ownership? Never.
Eritrea supports commercial access under international norms, not Abiy’s coated expansionist agenda.
✅ Open to Trade — Closed to Threats:
Ports like Assab & Massawa are open for fair cooperation, but Eritrea will never accept coercion or manipulation.
✅ Trust is Earned, Not Demanded:
Abiy’s long list of betrayals has broken regional trust — he is not seen as a good-faith partner in the Horn.

📢 Bottom Line:
🇪🇷 Eritrea wants regional peace, stability, and economic integration — built on sovereignty, trust, and mutual respect.
But make no mistake: Eritrea is more than capable of defending itself at any time, from anyone.
