@ARanganathan72 Extra seats is also not the right idea. Those seats dont appear from thin air. It is just twisting of words to reserve the same seats in a different way. Every year some seats are added naturally, if you claim them for reservation, it is no different from original idea.

@ChaosHubIN Dowry is only for access to high value man. If access to the man was not valuable, no woman would be paying dowry. You can only say you are buying the product if you pay whole net worth of the guy including the future. Generally, dowries are token amounts, 2-5cr for IAS grooms😂

I dont get why some people say reservation should not have a creamy layer. A poor SC/ST guy deserves reservation more than a rich SC/ST. Even if the rich SC/ST guy is disadvantaged on caste, the poor SC/ST guy is disadvantaged on caste and resources which compounds on itself.

The proviso in Section 3(2) is asymmetric by design: gifts from the bride's side to the groom face the extra "customary and not excessive" limit, while gifts to the bride do not. Section 4 already covers demands from either side, and both giving and taking are offences for any person.

The structure targets the historically dominant one-way extraction that produces the bulk of harassment and the ~5,700 dowry deaths recorded in 2024. Full gender neutrality is a policy choice for Parliament, not the courts.
