Please, PLEASE SHARE this horse. I know so many of you have only just helped us buy Khari’s motor cart. I cannot ask you to give again. But I am begging you to help us carry this story onto new timelines — because somewhere, someone may be able to help us bring him home.

He is completely blind. And while I am writing this, he is still working.

Look at his body. The rub marks. The scars. The old wounds and the new ones. His owner himself says that because he cannot see, he gets injured again and again.

He came to us only for treatment. We desperately wanted to keep him, but his owner supports a large family through his labour and cannot surrender him without an alternative livelihood.

So every day it takes us to arrange a motor cart is another day this blind horse remains at work.

Through TAWF’s Second Chance for Working Donkeys, we want to exchange his animal-drawn cart for a motor cart, bring him permanently to our sanctuary, and give him what he may never have known — safety, rest, kindness and dignity for the rest of his life.

22-year-old Navy sailor Charles Jackson French didn’t hesitate.

After the USS Gregory was sunk off Guadalcanal in 1942, 15 wounded shipmates were drifting toward Japanese-held shore.

French tied a rope around his waist and swam 6–8 hours through shark-infested waters, towing the raft to safety.

No cameras. No press conference. Just guts.

A white woman in a nearby town claimed a Black man had attacked her. It was almost certainly a lie to cover an affair.

Within a week, an entire self-sufficient Black town — homes, churches, a school, a sawmill — was burned to the ground by a mob of hundreds. Survivors hid in swamps for days. Rosewood. Levy County, Florida, January 1923.

Official records list 6 dead. Survivors say it was far more, and the town was simply erased from Florida maps.

An entire Black town was destroyed because of an accusation that was never proven. And for decades, Rosewood was barely spoken about.

That is exactly the kind of history we went looking for when we wrote a book that documents more cases like this.
