🌎 The World Feels Different Right Now

I've been watching videos from the World Cup, and honestly, something about it has really been hitting me.

I'm not even a soccer fan.

But what I'm seeing goes far beyond the game itself.

I'm seeing people from all over the world coming to America and sharing how much they're enjoying their experience. I'm seeing fans from different countries celebrating together, helping each other, taking photos together, laughing together, and creating memories they'll carry for the rest of their lives.

What really stands out is hearing so many visitors say the same thing: "This isn't what I expected."

The truth is, much of the world only sees America through the lens of the media. They see the political fights, the outrage, the division, the crime, and the endless stream of negativity. For years, that's been the version of America many people have been shown.

But then they get here.

They meet real people.

They experience kindness from strangers. They see communities opening their arms to visitors. They find generosity, hospitality, and everyday people who are far different than the image they've been sold.

And in that moment, something shifts.

The story changes.

The fear dissolves.

The labels start to fall away.

What we're witnessing isn't just a sporting event. It's millions of people from different countries, cultures, languages, religions, and backgrounds sharing the same space and realizing that we have far more in common than we've been led to believe.

It's a reminder that the world isn't nearly as divided as it sometimes appears on our screens.

Most people want the same things. They want peace. They want opportunity. They want their families to be safe and happy. They want connection. They want a future they can believe in.

Maybe that's why I've been so drawn to all of this.

Not because of soccer.

Because it feels like a glimpse of what becomes possible when people actually meet each other instead of meeting each other's narratives.

No matter where people come from, one song seems to keep showing up over and over again... "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

Connection.

It's quite fitting, really. Because that's what this whole event feels like. People from all over the world remembering that beneath the flags, the languages, and the borders, we're all looking for the same thing.

For the first time in a long time, it feels like the tide is turning.

It feels like people are getting tired of being divided.

It feels like the world is beginning to remember that before we're Americans, Brazilians, Germans, Mexicans, Japanese, or anything else...

We're human.

And honestly, that's a beautiful thing to witness.
