And solving differential equations is WAY beyond the brightness-luminosity equation.

There is literally nothing. Now, they'll claim the sun is a flashlight, but if that was the case we'd see it become very flat WHILE STILL relatively high in the air.

And no, pi doesn't come from assumptions about the shape of the earth. It comes from simple geometry; flux and how light leaves the sun.
