Proud Mama of Claudia and parent ambassador for DEBRA Ireland, passionate about making changes in services for people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa
Thank you @PaulineTullyTD for raising the first ever topical issue on EB in the Dáil yesterday.
Deputy Tully highlighted our new report ‘Life with EB in Ireland’, the experiences shared by Debra ambassadors @Elizabe08068244 and Emma Fogarty, and spoke about the need for additional home nursing care, outreach care and mental health supports for people with EB in Ireland. @MaryButlerTD
Our heartfelt thanks to @chrisandrews64 and @PaulineTullyTD for hosting the launch of our ‘Life with EB in Ireland’ report yesterday and to @MaryLouMcDonald @ImeldaMunster @Farrell_Mairead@ReadaCronin and Dessie Ellis TD @sinnfeinireland for coming out to support us and to make EB care a priority during #EBAwarenessWeek
Two incredible EB advocates Emma Fogarty and Liz Collins are in Leinster House for the launch of our new ‘Life with EB in Ireland’ report. A huge thanks to @MaryLouMcDonald for taking the time to meet with us and to @PaulineTullyTD for hosting #EBAwarenessWeek
We're happy to share that we're donating an Ireland Rugby jersey signed by the entire squad, to a raffle organised by the charity @debraireland.
Raffle tickets for this authenticated jersey start at €5, with all proceeds going towards Debra.

For the second year in a row, the Government has failed to prioritise funding for EB care. We've urged a €810,000 investment in mental health, outreach and home care for those with EB in #Budget2024. Regrettably, this budget falls short in addressing the needs of people with EB in Ireland.

@debraireland@sinnfeinireland No nurses available for my daughter, fighting for 19 years for correct services, 75% of my life has been spent fighting for services and advocating, trying to be a mother, wife, nurse, political campaigner for her. We need help !!!!!
Carers can’t work full time because they care for their loved ones , carers allowance available and then it’s means tested , given with one hand and taken back with the other, absolute joke..TD’s on big salaries not a clue of the impact caring has on a family
According to #Census2022, between 2016-2022, the number of UNPAID CARERS in Ireland increased by 53% to over 299,000.
There was also a 111% growth in number of UNPAID CARE HOURS provided each week.
The work of carers is often unseen, but their impact is invaluable. #CarersWeek

We've come a long way since a group of parents came together in 1988 with one goal: to improve the lives of everyone affected by EB.
Our work now includes advocacy, research and support for patients, families and carers. Thank you for supporting our work 💙
