#SPED638 Self-care is vital for teachers, walking, working out, reading, taking a hot bath, leaving work at work.... I wish I lived closer to CSUN to visit the Wellness Center and to get Acupuncture! @mboomgard
A7: as users and instructors we need continue to bring awareness to the official recognition and standardization of sign languages and need to get our students and our parents involved in the fight #deafed#sped567
Q7: How can users and instructors of sign languages from across the globe continue the fight for official recognition and standardization of sign languages? #DeafEd
Q6: Currently many hearing people teach #ASL as a heritage language to our #DDBDDHH students and as a second language to hearing students. What does this mean for #ASL? #DeafEd
A5: By adopting the new #asl standards, every student and every classroom would look/sound similar. Just like if you walked into any GenEd classroom around the country, the students would be working toward meeting the same standards. #deafed#sped567
A2: It is a fine line. #deafed teachers especially need to make sure that they are not using sim com in their classrooms but that they use each language separately. #sped567
A1: I do not know much about it...yet. But, I will be trained on True + Way American Sign Language curriculum, that I believe is something in the #DEAFED world #sped567
Hello! I am Ellie Woodward an @csunorthridge#deafed credential student! I work for @SB_CitySchools as the Teacher of the Deaf for the preschool and kinder class!
@malbeckford Along with this, we need to be telling parents that language isnβt just important for communication: itβs important for brain development and impacts multiple areas of functioning. Parents donβt know this if someone doesnβt tell them, and we are qualified to do that! #DeafEd
@malbeckford A3: In our class, we are learning the teacher's "mindset" which can easily be applied to AuD. Are AuD checking in on their mindset on what they think a child' needs are vs. what is most important to the child in how they accesses information? #DeafEd
@malbeckford A4: @daisynordugo is right! This is a good start. But its also important for AuD to remember that we are all a team and want to see the children succeed and to collaborate with the team members regarding services, goals, and placement #deafed#sped567
@malbeckford A2: An educational AuD should work with the not only the child but the teachers. they are there to offer support regarding equipment and classroom acoustics. #deafed#sped567
@malbeckford A1: I believe the current role of the audiologist in #DEAFED is to be an active team member in the IEPs and support not only parents and kids but the teachers in #deafed#sped567
