Our first joint General Assembly with @CDRmare heralded a new phase of collaboration. Two major research programmes on🌳#CO2removal🌊have exchanged new findings, created synergies & are now joining forces for future research on #CDR. Read our statement👇🏾

Little last day impression on my #research stay in Sydney. What a beautiful (and sunny) time! Unfortunately didn't manage to get into the field so had to do a last minute stop at Olympic Park to see some Aussie #saltmarshes and #mangroves.
Thanks to @NeilSaintilan for having me!

Great week at the Coastal Ecology Workshop! Brilliant to hear about all the fascinating projects across Europe and a good golden hour beach walk thrown in. Huge to thanks to @uniofeastanglia for organising and everyone’s valuable advice #CEW23#coasts
This week we started to take down our long-term #mesocosm experiment. More details coming out in our next blog post - in the meantime, enjoy some pictures!
Whoop whoop 🙌 New Paper is out! Main outcomes:
1) Salt-marsh plants are quite robust to hydrodynamic forcing - even under extreme conditions 🌊
2) the Big Wave Flume in Hanover is reeeally big 😄 You can find more (scientific) results here: https://t.co/xjkmeO9r1m
Almost nordic conditions for our @NordSalt warming experiment here in Hamburg @UHHBio.
We heat the #saltmarsh blocks via heating pins. So I guess the +6°C plots are currently the lucky ones!

“Digging in the dirt looking for carbon” - @Mikokoloko, @EllaEllulo & Kathryn Nicol taking sediment cores in the salt marshes on Graswarder/Heiligenhafen - close by a red Salicornia europaea patch, the color is caused by stress factors such as heat, drought, salt etc. 2/9
As the 2. ecosystem for #blueCarbon studies, #Seagrass meadows were sampled at Bottsand/ Wendtorf: @EllaEllulo, @ReentsSvenja, Kathryn Nicol & Theresa Fett started the day by marking sampling points. Later on, sediment cores were taken & subsampled, with Jennifer Prugger. 3/9
#maithinkX#ichbinhanna
A joint field training session on GHG emission measurements lead by @lukka_alm for @NordSalt and RTG2530 from @unihh under @KaiJens04400610 mentorship. A little snow does not stop field work (or GHG emissions)!
First #GHG measurements are done in the @NordSalt mesocosm before starting warming in May. Danish #saltmarshes are greening already and the net #CO2 flux is decreasing. So exciting to evaluate the first inherent differences between #nordic origins.
Wow! Just found out that our experiment can be seen in bing maps👀 But, it looks like it's a day with no field work, because there is no red van in the parking lot. 🚗

So finally we went out and I took my first #carbon stocks. And what a day! Beautiful weather, fun people and how cool ist that russian peat corer?
