@adamboxer1 Really enjoyed the webinar on Thursday afternoon, where you touched on this. Definitely left me with food for thought. Thanks for putting it on
I'm doing a half term #giveaway of these two of my books on #behaviour. Like and retweet this post to enter! Winner announced next Sunday (22nd Feb). See the thread for more details and a flash sale this week by my publishers @BloomsburyEd. #freebie
@XpatEducator First off, wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy 2026. Love the plays - shared some of your resources with staff in a recent staff meeting. Please could I have a copy of the playbook? Many thanks
Latest blog post has just gone live over on my Wordpress. This one is about something which has been a focus of my work in school this week: behaviour and routines for learning. It can be accessed at https://t.co/daIx0rrRj8
That being said, there is definitely merit in what @ollie_lovell said in response, about the positives of using slides. Loved the point about each step of the process of modelling being its own check for understanding and helping reduce cognitive load. Food for thought.
Just listening to @ollie_lovell and @mrbartonmaths ERRR Podcast from May 2023 (behind the times, I know!)
Absolutely loved Craig's point about using the same exercise book as the children, and a visualiser for live modeling. Promotes strong class cohesion and reduces CL.
@SoLInTheWild Having just had a quick read through the slides, this looks really useful - really informative with lots to 'take-away' - the way PD should be. Thanks ๐
This evening, I have started playing around with writing a blog. Just some ideas I had about Metacognition, CLT and Retrieval Practice.

Feel free to take a read and offer pointers - happy to hear your critiques!

What does great teaching look like? The Model for Great Teaching is an excellent summary of the Great Teaching Toolkit Evidence Review (Coe et al, 2020).
1 Understanding the content.
2. Creating a supportive environment.
3. Maximising opportunity to learn.
4. Activating hard thinking.

@calucas16@SoLInTheWild Tends to be subject specific vocabulary that you wouldn't come across unless in that topic - eg. Photosynthesis - you wouldn't see it outside of studying plants.
