Terrific @WBUR piece on how Year 15/Right of First Refusal disputes hurt affordable properties & their residents. Thank you, @HealyBeth! https://t.co/roepSEQr51
I'm looking forward to participating in this important conversation about a growing trend which undermines the long-term affordability of properties & the ability of nonprofits to serve residents & communities: https://t.co/WX4XvsTaAK
NHT is delighted that the Senate has confirmed Marcia Fudge as HUD Secretary. We look forward to working with @SecFudge to address our nation's affordable housing crisis, help struggling renters, and reinstate fair housing protections to address systemic racism.
So glad the House passed the "For the People Act" requires federally assisted housing providers to provide voter registration documents to renters. NHT has encouraged our residents to register to vote for nearly a decade, providing transportation & identifying polling stations.
@ShaunDonovanNYC@NPR@npratc So great to hear @ShaunDonovan talking about the importance of restoring HUD's disparate impact & AFFH rules & providing emergency rental assistance.
The Senate should move quickly to confirm
@mlfudge for HUD Secretary. Fudge will help protect renters struggling during the pandemic and increase access to affordable housing https://t.co/rGtNEZKuHp.
@scottyo21 @jckmc Congress created LIHTC to develop & preserve affordable rental housing for low-income families for 30 years. Your actions are contrary to this intent & threaten the affordability of the housing, the well-being of the residents, & the future of this program.
So excited to be participating in the Multifamily Preservation Strategues panel at #NCSHA20 talking about threats to the long term affordability of affordable rental housing. Thank you, @NCSHAEvents & @NCSHAhome!
It’s reckless, irresponsible, abhorrent for Trump to blow up negotiations now, when so many renters and small landlords are struggling mightily, and when there is growing bipartisan agreement on the need for emergency rental assistance. 1/
@scottyo21@moseskagan@Molson_Hart@jmccart10 This tactic is regrettable when there is a dire need for affordable housing & you're removing precious units from the inventory. As of 2018, 65,5000 affordable units had been lost from the LIHTC inventory due to QCs. More than 10,000 units have been lost per year due to QCs.

@scottyo21@moseskagan@Molson_Hart@jmccart10 Even before COVID-19, nearly 11 million renters spent more than half their income on rent. LIHTC was designed to provide 30 years of affordability to low-income renters. Your gain is their loss.
Relief is overdue and we can’t afford to wait any longer. Our joint statement with @EnterpriseNow@HAC_Housing@HPN_Network@LeadingAge@LISC_HQ & @SAHForg addresses the CDC’s eviction moratorium and ongoing need for emergency rental assistance. Read more: https://t.co/Wxe5qdwTBj
