A6 I think the MM and BAR curriculum embed this balance. When I read "students should plan, monitor, and reflect on their progress toward completion" I thought about how to embed more SEL work into our wk6/create/collarborate for ELA. #BESPLC

@Lindsay00565075 @SamanthaLCoy Agree. And learners need to have time to rework attempts to articulate progression of growth. (Like the Austin's Butterfly video). Not sure I provide such time for my learners or ask them to be intentional about articulating growth.

A4 This section made me think about neutral stance and it's connection to warmth and support. I think I will ask the kids to reflect on what they did today to show you care about someone else or yourself today with a focus on supporting our learner selves.#BESPLC

A3: I infuse choice well in stations with our use of must do/can do boards. The more difficult part is holding them responsible for doing their best work when there is little or no time to engage in reflection or discussion about this. #BESPLC

Thinking about the process of being a doer (reader, writer, etc) helps me with this. Commenting on what is true to that work all the time and not a particular moment in time. Doing this consistently will encourage my learners to use that language in their reflection. #besplc

I will ask the kids to develop examples of the general guidelines we use. For example, what examples will we see if we are taking care of each other? I will introduce them weekly so we have a focus of learning for the week and include reflection.#besplc

@DianeDame19 @SamanthaLCoy The paradox of being given vs. creating. I've tried each year to get better at this and can't seem to make myself do it. I often feel, "What good is what I have learned across my career if I have to force myself to NOT use it." Keeps me feeling like I'm failing.

@Chenry521 This was my goal as well. I was thinking about journaling with kids as a way to help them hold thinking as we work into a specified competency. I would like to see an SEL goal across all subjects for a period of time in our lesson plan. Might happen with morning meeting time.

A5: My focus: Competence Building. Naming an SEL focus as a unit of study to make sure that my students and I can work intentionally into a competency for a period of time. Name and develop strategies for this and exploring it's role in building our learning community. #BESPLC

A4: We can do this by continually asking what school wide practices are in place to help build our professional community and how these need adjusting overtime to sustain growth. Such communities develop slowly and overtime. They need tending. #BESPLC

@JennCrawford16 We also need intentional space to check in on each other professionally and personally. In our go-go-go pace this is not always done.
